Drill and tap size

What size drill and tap do I use for 3mm machine screws (the screws used throughout the E-Maxx)? I need to tap some holes in an FLM chassis.

2.5 mm is the standard for M3. if the material is tough, i take a 2.6 drill.

and you need an M3 tap with a .5mm pitch.

i use a #39 drill bit and it works great... good luck

Yeah, anytime..

Walter.. You are not complaining about your gasprices, right?! you want to pay what we are paying here? :p

Oh, and I'd suggest some sort of lubricant, like tap magic, especially if you're tapping into something kind of hard, like 7075 aluminum.

Regardless of what you pay - im still complaining - it stinks that our gas prices skyrocket and then the oil companies post record earnings for the year... OK im done complaining... Thanks for your post serum - i feel better now...

BTW - we - (Mike and I) use boeing lube - its a dry lubricant that works wonders also - and its dry so its not such a pain to get the chips out of the slots on the tap..

about 8 bucks per gallon to make you even feel better....
(didn't knew you needed this to feel any better walter?)
