Quark Woes --- Need help please

Hey gang. The Quarks seem to give me a headache lately.
I built this other tuck for someone, with the good old 5S/Quark 125B/ 9XL setup.
The truck is rather heavy, 11 pounds I think, but the 5S should take care of this.

Now here's the problem: the truck keeps on cutting out after like 10 minutes of running. Believe me, I tried everything I could: different batteries, 2 different Quarks (same result, even though the second one I tried runs fine in my own 5S truck), all the gearings I could squeeze in there... always the same. Cuts out after a couple minutes. The temperatures seem to be fine.... there's the RCM heatsink and 2 fans on the Quark.

Now I have it down to 110 amp peaks (Eagletree), geared for 35mph, and it still cuts out. That sucks.

What could this be??

I need a solution quick, the truck is for a friend.

Thank you
DAF

I had the same problem. My controller went up in smoke and the new one I got doesn't do it.

Daf; the fact that two quarks have got the same problem on the truck, i think you can start to look at the receiver or the BEC. perhaps it's something thermal in the BEC that makes the voltage sweep, causing the esc to act weird, or not at all.

Dafni 05.05.2007 06:36 AM

We already tried 2 receivers, 3 different locations.
But the UBEC is a good tip, charging up a RX pack as we speak :)

But perhaps Quark is getting back at you for replacing them with MM's..

Dafni 05.05.2007 06:47 AM

LOL that'd be a good one. Maybe I should ask them. :)

Any news Daf?

Is this for a vehicle for Mark?

I bet you the quarks are sooo mad at you they wont even dignify your questions with any answers :005: :005: .

I guess that's the main reason why they where sitting on your shelves, turning their back on you.. and now their ultimate revenge is to play tricks with your mind..

I wouldn't be surprised if they found companion in the UBEC or the receiver, you know what traitors they are..

BP-Revo 05.05.2007 12:53 PM

LOL

Daf, perhaps it is something with the motor? I know this is far fetched, but besides the UBEC and everything else, this is pretty much the only thing left.

I had this issue as well...found out it was my ubec...so i switched to the dimesnion sport one and havn't looked back...also I found out if you have the brake set to hard on the radio...it will cause it to stop...once ou hit brake...then you have to wait a sec and it continues.....adj. the brake on the radio and see how it does

Any chance its the LVC cutting out? The batteries start to heat up and the voltage drops?

When it cuts out does hitting reverese then forward again get it going?

Serum 05.05.2007 05:47 PM

different quarks and different batteries act the same way, so that kind of excludes the LVC i guess.

zeropointbug 05.05.2007 05:53 PM

I thought the voltage will go up a bit when they warm up. That's what I notice with the A123's anyway, I can see Lipo's being the same... faster chemistry kinetics.

But hey, I had the same thing Dafi (as you know), mine was cutting out after a while just before the cap had blown. Do you have more than one Quark?

Can you read his opening post again?
