Center Drive Cups for 9L/9920 E-Maxx
I've got a brushless E-maxx with some RC-Best Center CVDs. Recently, I have been having problems with the drive cups. They are getting little indents on them from the bone that cause a jackhammer motion of the shaft. It creates lots of vibration, noise, and heat. The actual shafts and the CVD part are just fine, no pin failures or anything, but the cups are giving me lots of trouble.
If anyone could tell me how to fix this problem, I would be grateful. The Traxxas message board suggested that I get FLM dogbones from mike, but $50 is too much to spend on them. Would it be possible to just buy a couple drive cups? I have also been considering some REVO centers, but I would be afraid that the yokes would break easily. Are the REVO yokes strong enough to hold up to brushless power? Thanx, Brijar!!! |
Get some drive cups from Mike, they are not expensive at all.
Wear on them is normal, all cups wear. I like to keep a couple spares at all times. |
How much would he charge for a couple of drive cups? Not more than $15 or $20, I hope.
My current drive cups have about a 4mm slot and the dogbones easily fit in them, so they could be 2.5 or 3mm. Do Mike's drive cups fit that? How long should I expect a set of cups to last? Thanx, Brijar!!! |
Well, it seems that I have just broken the end of my output shaft off the tranny's front:007:, so I'll need a new one. I'll ask Mike to ship one with my cups for an additional $7.49, if the cups are cheap enough.
Also, does he have any that have threads on both sides of the cup for two set screws to pinch the shaft, or do the cups just have one threaded hole and one non-threaded hole on the other side? Do you know if he could send me a few set screws or yoke pins, as I don't have any at all:012:. Thanx, Brijar!!! |
