Schulze 18.61 Compatibility...
Hi, quick question as I am a little swamped with all the motor choices out there...
I currently run a Schulze 18.61 and Lehner 5300 in a Traxxas Rustler, but have recently been looking at my E-Maxx and was wondering, what kind of motors would I be able to put in my emaxx with the Schulze? If I could use my current speed controller in the E-Maxx it would save me a ton of money. I have heard that the 18.61 may not be capable of handling a motor powerful enough for the E-Maxx, can anyone confirm this? Thanks Roob |
It would for sure be difficult for your controller. Even with a 10L on 16 cells and low gearing, the controller would have a difficult time. Look at the Warrior 9918 (18 cells) or MGM 120amp (max 12cells).

The 18.61 will work fine in an e-maxx with the right motor setup. I raced my e-maxx with that controller for about a year. I wouald run an xl2800 or slower lehner motor with that controller (xl2400) and feed it some voltage. It can't handle the power like the 9920 warrior or other higher amp controllers, but if you gear it right and select the right motor, it will work fine. I ran a fan on mine as well. The xl3100 is a bit too hot, but the xl2800 and below should allow the controller to hold up quite well.
