Hey guys.......
Some of you know that in March my '00 Dodge Intrepid (my daily driver) had a surprise engine failure (it appears that some gunk, chunk of gasket, who knows...) clogged an oil passage to the main bearings and the engine seized up. http://www.rcbros.com/forum/smileys/cry2.gif) Of course it happend at a bad time (no time & no money and a heavy work load at the office) so I was rushed into replacing the car. My wife partially talked me into a low-mileage Pontiac G6 GT, fully loaded including leather, sunroof, and "Monsoon Stereo". Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time so I went for it only to realize later that the seats have no lower back support, the stereo sounds like dog http://www.rcbros.com/forum/smileys/shit.gif and the brake system has some typical GM quirks. Well I seriously missed my Intrepid even though the G6 was faster and handled better. I missed the size, comfort, and trunk space not to mention the 130,000 mile intrepid had NO squeeks or rattles and the G6 already had developed a few! So I sought out a replacement! Almost bought a Charger R/T but with gas costs climbing and the high cost of insurance on the R/T...I picked THE BEST alternative! A Chrysler 300M Special! Essentially a factory built 300M hot rod! It has dual exhaust, 18" wheels w/Vette tires (Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45/ZR18 front and 255/45/ZR18 Rear) plus a host of other upgrades in the suspension, trans, engine, interior, stereo system, and exterior. I needed the trunk space to transport my RC's! and just so no one needs to ask..... I still have the Mustang and all my RC's. Nothing had to be "mortgaged"! |
Very nice. Is all of tha duct work on top of the engine intake or is it just hiding the electricals? I've always been a big fan of mopar. I had a V-8 Dakota that I had to get rid of. I miss it dearly. That thing was a bit of a sleeper.

I got the same car in Europe.. VERY nice. I got exactly same colours as you too! Gotta love them rims! :)

The "ductwork" is a dual-plenum intake. It has "active runners" meaning the air is routed thru the long runners ar low rpm to promote torque and thru the short runners at hi-rpm to promote max power. |

Yeah, my tires arent showing much signs of wear after about 50,000km, the power is really good for an auto.
How many km or miles do you already have on yours? |

No, no pics, when i go to europe ill have to get some! I do however have a couple of DVD's of the car in a couple weddings.. This car is truely awesome!

Very refined feel. I miss the asphault shredding power of my Mustang (hopefully the Mustang will hit the streets again in June!) But otherwise a GREAT car! I love the look of it and the wheel/tire combo! @ Angel... Thanks for the compliments! |
Nice ride Procharged. I've always like those 300M's. Very plush inside. Now I know where Saturn got the idea for there rims for their new Aura. Saturn Aura rims. Similar anyway.

Power is good but after wheeling my near 600hp/3100 lb Mustang everything feels slow.......LOL!. btw...I think GM is on to something with the Saab 9.3 platformed G6/Malibu/Aura/etc. A few refinements on the brakes and engine mounting plus some programming tweaks on the trans and it's a pretty impressive car. I just traded in an '05 G6 GT for this 300M Special (the 300 Special is light years better) but the G6 had very powerful brakes (with god aweful rotors the warped & unwarped whenever they felt like it), Continental tires that gripped like crazy (I was impressed!), and a tight chassis. The "electric assist" steering was bogus as the steering wheel felt disconnected from the car at low speeds but felt "dialed in" at 60+. Not bad...just needs a few tweaks. Thankfully more power and hydraulic assist steering is on the way with the '07's. I've always hated the feel of transverse mounted engines. Torque steer and service issue top the list. Thank god the 300 has it's engine pointing in the right direction! It's easy to work on and is relatively high tech (would be even better if it had variable valve timing) but oh well. .............I'm rambling now.....Sorry! |
