Looking for onboard camera
Need something that will record onboard videos at full speed :)
Nikon7600 is ok at low speed but no chance at more than half throttle http://www.radeks.net/?p=62 any suggestions (something that does NOT cost a fortune)? 5 minutes of recording time would be nice or slot for memory card. no need for zoom. dont want wireless solution as i would have to drag laptop with me |
The Nikon says it will do 30fps, which should be fine. Cartoons are typically 15fps IIRC or less.
For instance, 40mph is 58 feet/s. So, you'd get one frame every 1.9 feet, which at 40mph is pretty good. The Canon A620 (which is what I have and like a lot) will do 60fps. Just remember, the higher resolution and frame rate you go, the more memory you'll need. |
i got 2giga card so thats not a problem but it has problem focusing at such speeds. it works great when i shoot truck videos
A620 is out of production :( but it looks quite big) i'll check other canons This panasonic camcorder looks cool but $400 is quite a lot for something that will probably endup destroyed :) |
Yeah, the 620 is kinda large I suppose. You can still find them at discount places and eBay.
Since still cameras are generally for still pictures, the cheaper ones are a little lacking in the video department. If you are looking for some type of faster focus management or even auto-stability control, you might have to get an actual digital camcorder. Of course price will be higher... |
I have been thinking about trying one of the disposable 20-30 dollar CVS cameras there is lots of info on hacking the camera to download the video without having to send it in.? search CVS video camera hack. :)

Have you tried looking at something like that. I hear a lot of good things about them from bikers. |
