Hyper 7 motor mount

Does anyone know if one of Mike's motor mounts work for the Hyper 7?

gixxer 05.30.2007 11:11 PM

I know mike is working on a mount for the hyper 8. that should work for the hyper 7 since they use the same center diff.

You can email him about the one he made for my Hyper 8. That is if you want a setup where there are batteries on both sides and the motor on top...

They are the same size center diff, but that does not mean they are the same center diff mounts.

He's done at least one for the Hyper 7 - though it's a very different moount that require replacing the two diff standoff/mounts with totally custom machines pieces. The only problem with that is that it's expensive:

I forget WHOS buggy this is, but I found it here on the forums a few months ago when I was doing my Hyper 7 conversion.

I have no idea weather or not the hyper 7 mount will work for the Hyper 8.

his price for a 3 piece top mount is very reasenable i'd say.:p

I sent an email a few days ago asking about mounts for a Hyper 7. Have not gotten a response yet.

That's brian's I believe. I made my own mount and it works great, but if that mount was made available, I'd get it just because it really simplifies the battery placement. I heard that he was going to refine the design further and the price should come down. Haven't heard anything yet, but maybe we will here something here! :)

Yeah, the Hyper8 and hyper 7 use the same diff, so there is no reason why it won't work. However, the Hyper 8 has the diff mounted off center. Mike made the mount so it uses the same off center holes yet mounts in the center (basically the mount holes are to one side). Here are a couple of pics. I have some of just the mount, but they are at home:

That mount looks great but it needs rear support. I have ripped the end bell out and stripped several gears not having the rear supported.

I was using Mikes heat sink for a support and lay the motor right on the chassis for support over the hole motor. I never stripped a gear or knocked the end off when there was rear support.

Also if you lay your batteries sideways you will have alot of room. There is enough room next to the diff. to get a 5s 5000 mah maxamp pack in there without the rock guards.

By the way the buggy looks excellent.

If the front comes off the motor, I'm in SERIOUS trouble since the front and main can are all one piece from what I can tell. :) I've taken some very had landings with no trouble so far. Now, if I was running a Feigao, it would be a different story. And I know the mount is very solid because I'm using a hardened steel pinion/spur combo (not in the pic though) and there is very little wear after more than a dozen packs' worth of runtime (~45 min each).

I cannot lay the batteries sideways because they will hit the shell - I tried that, which is why I have the trays hanging over the mudguards. The trays are not even touching the guards though because I'm using a standoff made from nylon bar stock. The picture below helps explain what I mean:

In reality though, the trays are more centered over the spacer - this pic was made early in the design stage...
