actually going to order some stuff.. lol...need help

hey well i THINK i finally made my decision to go brushless... i will probably change my mind who knows...

heres my decision

revo using vantage chassis and a crap ton of upgrades
stock tranny (this is the part i need help with... figuring out how to make it work right)
rc-monster custom mount (will talk to mike before ordering to make sure it will work fine)
8xl w/ rc-monster heat sink (wat pinion do i use?) 5mm mod1?
quark 125b
ill use a traxxas rx pack for the ubec
ill be using 6s a123 cells
and spektrum v3 or 2.0 or w/e

here is my list of stuff to buy
custom mount
8xl
heat sink
quark 125b
some kind of pinion?...
that totals at 455 or something around there i beleive.

should be orderig tomorow lmk

gix1kguy 05.31.2007 09:05 AM

is it safe to use the traxxas rx pack as the UBEC??

wallot 05.31.2007 09:25 AM

it does not matter if u use UBEC or standard RX pack the goal is not use internal bec in the speed control. RX pack means another battery to take care of
UBEC means bit of soldering

I think 6SA123 is too much for the 8XL, its doable but will run hot. I'd go to a 9XL or even 10XL for more reliability.

The only challenge using the CF chassis on a conversion is that it can't be bent, and I'm not sure how easy it is to drill and mount screws into. You'll have to carefully consider how you will mount batts if you go this route.

You'll prolly want a Q125 heatsink as well.

Gearing? I'm running around 16.3:1 using 8XL/4S, but its not set in stone yet. The Revo tranny is pretty adj between the spurs and 2nd gear. Use Brian's calc to try out the gearing combos.

Oh, the RCM motor mount just bolts tot he nitro mount, so if there are not any issues using the nitro motor, the RCM mount should be fine.

im hoping so!

we will see though i guess

o ya i forgot about the heatsink for the 125b!

thans

The nitro mount is holding up fine in my Revo so far. Using the stock part really helps stiffen the mounting area. Even with the 3.3 stiffening plate, that area is too flexible to use an L type of mount IMO.

what about buying an e-maxx tranny and locking that in 2nd? how will that work cmopared to using the revo tranny? it will save me the moey of having to buy a mount also

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=015

that a good deal? even though its ended lie wuld that be an ok setup? that is what im thinking of copying

BrianG 05.31.2007 04:55 PM

The emaxx tranny works well, but you have to mod the chassis opening a little to get it to fit. Also, the screw holes don't quite line up, so you'll have to elongate them. Not to mention making battery trays, but you'd have to do that no matter what.

GorillaMaxx360 05.31.2007 05:41 PM

that car looks very familiar.

t-maxxracer32 06.01.2007 08:48 PM

is that yours or somethign? or have you seen it on the site before?

GorillaMaxx360 06.01.2007 11:33 PM

i have seen it on the site before. I remember because the thread was discussing how good a welder was and what kind of work it does. and someone made a chassis for there e-revo almost identical to that.

t-maxxracer32 06.02.2007 06:06 AM

ooo well i bought it for a freind so i just wanted to see if he got ripped off or not. it seems promising but who knows!

it looks cool though
