Feigao 9L dismantling

Hey everyone, I've been reading these forums for a while but finally decided to post. I've had my 540C-9L shaft come loose from the rotor, and was trying to figure out if it could be repaired. It fits back nice and snug, but eventually the whole pinion/shaft assembly works its way forward during use and the gears end up misaligned. Also, does anyone have a diagram of the internal layout of these motors. I can't remember the placement of the brass spacers (short vs. long) with regard to the front and rear of the motor. Thanks, I'll be posting more about my setup soon, I've mostly been on other forums but this seems to be the most active and informative.

IIRC, the long spacer sits in front, but you can see by the marks the shaft has on it where the spacers need to be. (or the space the rear bearing needs)

Your magnets got loose from the shaft? i had the same problem with an 8XL. One of the three magnets came loose. (an L has two magnets) but the solution is less simple; i tried scuffing the surface of the magnets and glue it back in place with CA glue; but the poles are positioned a way they fight eachother. There is a black line on the rotor which should alligned. After a few runs the magnet got loose again. If both the magnets are still attached onto eachother, i would try scuffing the shaft and press it in using CA glue. Are the aluminum plates that sit on the outside of tha magnets still in place?

Are you sure there are two magnets? It looks like one solid shiny piece. (this is the C-can 9L, not the purple one). I tried scuffing it but didn't use any sort of glue. Also, is there a front and back to the magnet? It doesn't look like there are any distinguishing marks on it, just one solid cylinder. This is probably the jolt I need to take the plunge on a Neu 1512, but I'd like to keep using this if possible as I love the way it feels in the car (1/8 buggy). Thanks for responding.

If the magnet is whole and not busted, try JB Weld on it. I had a novak hv 4400 that the magnet seperated and it worked great on that. The light scuffing that you did will help a lot in adhesion

Well, I took it apart again and tried the JB weld thing. It's definitely one solid magnet on the shaft. We'll see how it goes in a day or two. I also decided to replace the bearings while I was at it because one of the originals was feeling a bit crunchy. If it comes loose again I'll probably go with the 1512 2.5D.

Are you sure it's only one magnet? It might look like only one magnet, but there should be two in the 9L.

Got a picture of the entire motor?

Well, I already assembled it again and put it back in the car. It's the black, finned can 540C-9L. Unless I'm going blind or crazy, the magnet was definitely one piece.
