Taken the plunge...............

Well guys I've decided to take the plunge and do a BL conversion on my savage. Following parts are on their way: Mamba Max ESC, Feigao 9XL, Fastlane Shock Towers, Fastlane Upper Arms, RacerX Shocks, Kershaw BL Conversion Kit. Things to come later: IB4200 SHV Batteries, Andy Moore CTX Cellmaster. :013: hehe

P.S. Any of you savage guys using the X SS version? Will the old spur gears from a SS25 fit on the X SS without any mods?

cheers
simon

Get an X slipper with plastic spur, that's my advice.

Serum is right. My X slipper is holding up fine to a 1521. Still wish Mike would release a Savage Slipperential!

Thanks guys I'll take that advice on the spurs. I just hope 12 cell nimh is ok, can't afford to go lipo just yet, hopefully not too far in the future. :002:

Maybe with the 9XL, you might want to try 14 cells. I like to run the 9XL in my trucks with 4S lipo. It's a good compromise among runtime, performance, and heat.

I was thinking of trying 14 cells, will the MM handle that ok?

AAngel 06.05.2007 02:47 PM

OK, I just did some math (and it hurt). 14 cells will have a nominal voltage of 16.8v. I'm not sure of what the fully charged voltage will be. I know that all of my MM escs will handle 4S lipo, which comes off of the charger at 16.8v. Some of my MM escs will handle 5S, which comes off of the charger at 21v.

Perhaps you are right in trying out 12 cells first. 14 cells is probably an iffy proposition. I must apologize for my comment regarding the 14 cells. I have so much different equipment laying around that it's sometimes hard to keep track of what works with what all of the time.

It's all good Aangel, my brain hurts when i do math also :027: Thanks for the help much appreciated :028:

Those TVPs are cool. Great idea from FLM. Anyone tried them yet?

suicideneil 09.27.2007 05:47 PM

They are cool. That makes converting a savage much easier for old & new hands alike, just have to find a tranny and the battery holders (or make your own) and hey-presto, you're done.

pullstarter 09.27.2007 06:06 PM

Hmmm very interesting indeed, is the e-sav tranny up to big motors?

MTBikerTim 09.27.2007 07:12 PM

That is a very interesting chassis. It's very short though. I would love to see one of these built though.
