Hi guys, well have got all my system wired up. It consists of a 9920, UBEC, and 540C 8xl in an emaxx with traxxas receiver

I have it wired according to Brians wiring diagram with 2 x 7 cell batteries in series and have pulled the jumper for using a BEC

So i've plugged it all in and nothing, not a peep out of the throttle, no beeps after removing the programming jumper, nada. The sterring servo is operational though so theres definately power in the system.

I've double checked my wiring and it all looks good and I have put a fresh charge into the bateries as well. I've also tested power is getting to the controller by checking using a test light at the battery connections on the controller

Have i missed something, or is it DOA? What can I check to work out where its gone wrong?

You might have to adjust the endpoints on your radio before the ESC will beep for you when you try to program it.

should I get the same response from the ESC with or without the motor attached? i've tried both as part of a process of elimination but i get the same result.

Nothing gets or got warm, none of the magic smoke came out so am at a loss as to what it might be.

You have to have the motor connected...it's what makes the beeps.

You went through all of these steps, right?

Could it be a dud motor? how could i test this?

check to see if your ESC is plugged inot the reciever with the correct polarity. I had mine switched once, it did the exact same thing you are describing, and it took me an hour to figure it out. I know... Its silly but I tought Id throw it out there just in case.

For that matter... Check the polarity on all fo your connections just to be sure.

If that doesnt work check all of your solder points. Give the soldering points on your plugs a good tug to make sure you dont have a bad solder joint somewhere. Sometimes they look good but really arent.

Dud motor, highly doubt it, I have never even heard of such a thing.

Maybe take a pic of the setup so we can see everything on it?

I agree with ZPB and jhautz; I doubt it's a bad motor, but it could happen I suppose. Check the polarity of the throttle cable into the receiver. Usually, the plug is inserted so the ground wire (black or brown wire in the connector) is closest to the outside of the receiver case. Having it in backwards won't hurt anything, it just won't run.

the polarity was switched on the esc lead to the receiver. It goes in really easily one way, the other I had to push it in at an angle to get the pins into the little sockets nicely.
