9L and 9920 warrior is the popular choice, althought there are many motor options to choose from, depending on what you hope to achieve with the truck and how many cells you want to run.

You could run the 9L on both 12 and 14 cells. just drive it, and if you brake anything on the drivetrain, replace it.

is the 9l fast at all?

MetalMan 06.17.2005 09:04 AM

It is fast on 14 cells. It will still run faster than stock on 12 though (with more torque too).

j/k

Welcome aboard, btw.
Good deal on those Maxxes.

I would also just upgrade as you go along. It always depends on your driving style, you can destroy the driveline even with a stock setup.

And, yeah, the 9L is plenty!
