Feigao 9L Question
 

Well i just bought a 9l here and was using it on my twin force with a warrior 9918 also with 12 gp 3300's. I was out driving yesterday and all of a sudden my truck stopped and now when i try and give the 9l some power the motor just kind of stutters. I thought it might be the warrior acting up so i threw it in my buddies e-maxx with 10l and the controller works fine. What the heck happened? I only ran the 9l about 3-4 times and it never overheated or anything like that.

How did you have the motor connected to the controller? If you used plugs, sometimes a plug will come unplugged and the motor will stutter as you described (3 phase motor with two connections won't work!). I would try the 9L again.

Try to turn the shaft by hand!

I once had a broken magnet on a 9L.

Well after further research i found that it is not the motor, it is in fact the warrior 9918. Sorry guys i tried to run it again with my buddies motor and the same thing happened today, that stuttering. I decided to take the shrink wrap off the controller and found that there are a few resistors or whatever you call them missing off my 9918, i kind of think that maybe the problem. I'm not sure if its worth trying to get fixed or not, what do you think?

Got any pictures, Mike? It sounds like something is simply loose to me. If it worked on your friends motor at first, but suddenly stopped working perhaps something shook loose. How did you have it mounted in your truck?

I had the 9918 mounted in the empty space where one of the motors used to be, so next to the feigao 9l. There is definitly some things missing on the board of the 9918, i'll take some pics with my digital but how do i show them to you?

Can you see that the parts where welded on that spot? they can also leave some parts blank, for another type of controller.

Did you find any of the parts that you thought came loose in the heatshrink?

There are some parts that were coming out of the shrink wrap when i cut it off that fell off and to who know where.

Did you tightend it to hard on one side? I must admit, those controllers aren't made to be mounted easy. I always use foam underneath those types of controllers to prevent what happened here.

No i did not use any kind of foam, now i wish i had because this is going to be an expensive mistake. I don't think its going to be easy or cheap to fix. Rc monster_mike thinks he might be able to fix it though...

serum, in what way are you talking about using foam? what kind of foam?

Foam stiffer than the foam in the tires, i don't know where to get it in the US, here i buy it in a hobbystore (for creative children) it comes in sheets in about 3mm thickness

Normally those SMD parts can be weld back in place, just find the place where they sit before and easy weld them back in place with the smallest welding tip you can find.

I use the pads from the g-maxx chassis battery foam pads(I don't throw away the extra pieces that are cut out) to protect the controller. In a harsh environment(like r/c) any electronics device should be mounted in a way to protect it. I have seen the IC crystals worn off the board from a loose mount with no padding(friction will eventually wear away the heat shrink and then the controller's parts). Also, serum is corret-it is pretty easy to solder the parts back on, once you know where they go.
