TQ-3 Radio Glitching Rumors

I have been researching a lot and I read a few times that the TQ-3 produces a lot of glitching in use with brushless. I was planning on using MM esc and feigo 8xl on my emaxx, but I dont really have the extra cash to buy a new radio setup aswell.

Are there any other cheap radios that I could maybe substitute in, or a easy way to reduce the glitching?

A lot of that is because it is AM and is prone to noise. A BL system can produce a fair bit of noise. Maybe a better AM radio would work better, but it's still AM. FM would be better, and digital would be best (Nomadio, Spektrum, etc).

If the TQ3 is the stock (free) AM radio that you get with the Traxxas vehicles, then going to just about any FM setup will be better.

EDIT-it figures, Brian beat me to it.

Ok, thanks guys. But how bad is it really? Just little twitches?

I have a TQ3 on one of my trucks, my old basher BL revo. Never had a problem, but the range is not as good as with better radios. My BL crawler has a TQ3 too, works fine. Give it a try, you can still upgrade when you see it does not work for you.

Well, the performance of the AM radios varies from what Dafni has experienced to people having their car totaled because it took off all by itself.

Personall, I'd invest a couple of hundred bucks in a radio, considering the money that I put into the conversion.

If you can swing it, get a radio with multiple model memories. That way, if your stable gets larger, you can just pick up extra receivers instead of a whole system for each.

A cheap inbetween step for a radio could be something like a Futaba 3PM or Airtronics MX-3. Both can be found for around $70 or less used with a Rx. I ran an MX-3 for several years before I upgraded to a M11. I recently outfitted it with a Spektrum Pro system and love it.
