RC18T Drivetrain Problems
 

Hey. I bought an rc18t factory team over the winter for a project and have gotten around to running it a bit this spring. However, the drive train has been giving me problems since the start. It keeps slipping out, even after I completely disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled the front and rear diffs. I'm only running a mamba 5400 and 8.4 volts, I don't think power and torque is becoming an issue yet.

What I'm thinking of doing is tightening the diffs until I can't screw in any further (wise or unwise mini owners?) since that always worked with my losi xxx-t. Otherwise I think it could also be a stripped diff-nut, which i think is molded directly into the rc18t outdrives.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is the best way to adjust the ball diffs TBH the plastic diff's wont stay tite I would recomend the mip diff's and carbide balls for longer lasting diff's in the rc18. :)

I ran a 7000kv motor in my Mini LST. I had to just tighten the MIP ball diffs all the way, don't back it off, and I also put a dab of locktite on the nut. Brushless power seems to loosen them up fast if you don't.

I ran the 6800 with stock diffs for a while, and it did fine. But over time they will just wear out. I suggest you pick up some MIP super diffs.

I'll definitely try the loctite and crank these suckers all the way down. It's so nerve wrecking working with such tiny parts.

I thought it would be cheaper running the little ones, but they just go through the parts faster if you put some power to em. Now going to the bigger ones since they are tougher.

^^^ amen! Strangely enough, gobs of power and little plastic pieces don't go well with each other ;)

shim the diffs this helps a ton and it sounds better and runns smoother.
