best feigao setup for e-maxx??
i am new to electric veh. I just got my emaxx. its not as fast as i want it. or runs as long as i want it to. i am looking to keep up with the nitro trucks around me for at least 15 to 20 min. i recently saw the feigao motors here on rc-monster. i was wondering if anyone had any idea which setup would be best for what i am looking for...

How much are you willing to spend? What charger do you have? Would you go lipo?
|
bottom line its how much you want to spend, the higher voltage systems are the more effecient so you get the longer run time and speed and there is not alot of heat build up, the batteries either nimh or lipos, lipos are the better but can be expensive, the feigao motors are good but there are better, then you got to beef up that driveline
with the right combination the nitro trucks look like they are standing still, i'm sure some one will chime in on the setup you need |
well I run the following:
quark 125b w/ feigo 7xl 4s 8000 Lipos other will say to use the neu 1515 1.5y ....I think that is correct......but either one is good |
i've got about $300 to spend. cvd all around. I was thinking feigao cause it isnt too expensive. maybe lipos later in due time.

You can run an MM, Feigao 8xl/9xl, UBEC, and 14 nimh cells. That system, minus the batteries, will set you back a little over $200. Then you have to worry about the diffs. They are said to be very weak with this sort of power.

I read somewhere that the feigao 8l w/ a bk esc would run faster than an xl?????
|
Yes, it will run faster, but the motor will also get really hot. Many of us here have gone to the XL motors for trucks due to the heat.
Keep in mind that the Feigao is an inexpensive motor that is good for the money, but they are inefficient and will get hot. How long it takes for them to overheat depends on how you run. When running under race conditions, I can overheat a 7XL in about 10 minutes. The 9XL will go longer before it overheats, but it will overheat. Since you have a limited budget, I'd keep things conservative and go with a Mamba Max esc and Feigao 9XL. Even this conservative setup will blow the doors off of most nitro setups. I know that it isn't the same thing, but I did post a video of my Losi 8ight T with a Feigao 9XL in the brushless forum. Take a look at it and it will give you an idea of what to expect. Putting an XL size motor in a 10lb truck results in stupid amounts of power. There are just varying degrees of stupidity that you can choose from. BTW, stupid is a good thing. I'd also stay away from the 9920. Some have had good luck with them, but the few I've seen have wound up dying smokey deaths. For the money, the MM is very hard to beat. Just disable the internal BEC and get an external unit. |
how would you disable the bec?

Pull the red wire from the plug that goes into the receiver.
