Charging problem

I'm trying to charge my lipo's for the first time & no luck. I plugged them in to the lba6 balancer as per directions. The leds flashed five times, they all went out except cell #2 & cell #4. I plugged the balancer into the charger, & started the charger it said no battery was connected.

After you plug it into the charger you need to push the button on the LBA6 and change it from stand alone mode to charge mode. Then it will pass the voltage throug the LBA6. Just be careful after you push the button the leads on the LBA6 are just like the battery leads. Dont short them on something by accident.

It's working :043: :027:

Three of the 4 led's are light. Led #1 is off led's 2 3 4 are on. What does that mean ?.

Cool.

That means that cells 2 3 and 4 are higher voltage tha cell 1 and its dischargeiong 2 3 and 4 to make them the same as 1.

Thats what its supposed to do. Its working. Your all good.

rchippie 06.17.2007 09:01 PM

Now led's 123 are on & 4 is off .

Cells 2, 3, and 4 flashing mean those cells are higher voltage and the LBA is slowly discharging them until they get to whatever cell 1 voltage is.

The LBA is fairly sensitive so different LEDs might go on and off. That is normal. If the LEDs go from flashing to solid, that means the imbalance is larger and you should reduce the charge current so the balancer has time to discharge the high cells before the charger gets to the CV mode.

Okay but how will i know when they are charged , the packs are 8000's & the counter on the charger only goes up to 5000 ?. The manual says i can charge 800's it will just take longer.

jhautz 06.17.2007 09:05 PM

It working. Stop worrying.

That means you can only charge at 5 amps instaed of the 1c rate which would be 8 amps. Its still stop at the correct voltage.

Im only wondering how will i know when there done ?. My triton used to beep when finished i dont know what this one does when finished. This is my first exsperince with lipo's so i'm a little nervus :005: .

As long as it is true cc/cv charger..... quit worrying!

My charger is a hyperion eos5idp . But how will i know when there done ?. I've only had NIMH chargers. I've never used a good charger like this.

Just monitor the voltage and current. Once the pack gets to 4.2v/cell, the current will start to drop and eventually will dwindle down to 100mA (0.1A) and then stop. Charging an 8Ah pack at 5A will take 96 minutes, assuming that charger will do 5A at 4s voltage without hitting the power limit.
