CRT.5 B/L Parts list..................

I am currently converting my CRT.5 to B/L as some know.

Parts I have now or on order:
Mamba Max esc and 5700kv motor
Hitech digital servo 5242-MG
RC-Monster CRT.5 B/L Mount
RC-Monster 16t hardened pinion 5mm mod1
RC-Monster Bore reducer 5mm to 1/8"

Parts I need to order:
Max Amps 5ah 3s lipo

Parts I might need not sure:
BEC

Ok there is my list, I am still unclear if I need a bec or not. I ave read and read but seems to me that I can not pull the info out of what I am reading to decide weather I need one or not.

Also tires tires tires.......I like to have some tire options. I am looking into these tires here for racing on hard clay/packed dirt:

I plan to use the stock pro lines Boe Ties that came with the kit on loose or bashing on grass or dirt surfaces.

I am after a set for high speed runs. I seen the foams IBJAMMIN ran, I like them, him burning up a servo has led away from them. I did wonder about cutting these foams down. here is the link to the foams:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCME3&P=ML

the tire ovarall is 86mm tall. The rim says 2.2" which is 56mm tall. That leaves 15 mm of foam on the outside. I wonder if I trued these down to 5 mm of foam, leaving me a 66mm oval tall tire. Then take the outer edges and round them up. Do any of you feel this would take some strain off the servo? Is it to short at 66mm, the stock tires are around 81mm.

Lastly I seen these tires and wonder if anyone has experience with them or word on them.

These appear to some good bashing on road and off road tires.

Thanks for looking and your opinions are wanted, so please do not hold back let it all out. ;)

later,
NiCad

I'm not sure but is 3s a little much for the CRT.5, dont most people run 2s with it ?.

jnev 06.19.2007 01:42 PM

Many people say that you need a BEC on anything over 2s.

Probably mainly me. Most think 3s is OK, but I've done temp tests and it is very clear that 3s is too much. Even with a 250mA load (0.25A), the ESC BEC got quite warm quite fast.

I run these tires on pavement and grass. They are great! I think they are the perfect size for the crt.5 too. Also, there is no shortage of grip either. I highly recommend them, you just have to be careful turning at high speed on a high grip surface, you will traction roll.

Hope this helps!

I have run pack after pack on 3s in my 5700 and 4600, not sure about others. Its not a bad idea to have one in case, or if you want 6v over 5v

NiCad 06.19.2007 11:32 PM

It requires a bec to achieve 6v when using the MM?

The Dirt Hawgs are on my list. Thinking they will make great everywhere tires. Only concern is weight from all the lugs. Any word on this?

Thanks for the replys.

Yes, I have read where you have suggested a bec to others. :027:

Funny thing is that there are still people asking if it's ok to use the ESC BEC on 4s. lol.

Well is it?

Here's what they look like mounted.

Here they are working on pavement.

I just mounted up a set of 2.2 Proline Snake Eyes truck tires. Still running 13/46 gearing and a five minute quick bash put my temps at about 110 for both engine and (MM 4600) and ESC (MM on 3S Lipos). I'll need to update my build post with my recent changes.

It was geared for about mid 30's. So probably right around there. No gun on it yet.:002:
