Dilemma
Hey. Recently some guy offered to trade me an s-maxx with a few rpm parts and such for my t-spec..:L: Not beign a nitro guy I blew it off, but I've actually considered it. How hard would it be to convert to electric? I figure I'd buy the g-maxx chasiss, singlespeed conversion, and spyder 6 diff's with nice cvd's. That'd probably run me around $300 though.
So, I've also looked into a twin-force roller, but what are my options for beefing up the diff on that? I'd run a Lehner XL probably on 12 cells. Looking for lower 30's with serious torque and low heat. Please, pour on the advice. I have the rc bug, and the cash to fund it, but i'd like to leave the wallet intact. The lehner xxx-t needs an off-road buddy. |
i would go for the s-maxx and make it 4 wheel drive. it wouldnt be hard at all. with the new chassis, cvds, and 6 spyder diffs all you would need would be electronics and e-maxx tranny. i would also get the g-maxx motor mount and extion kit. as far as a motor on 12 cells i would run a lehner xl4200 and a 9920 or a 18120. the 18120 because im not sure if the 9920 could handle a 4200. it probly can though.
The xl4200 is a little on the hot side for maxx duty. the xl2800 sounds more like what you are looking for. On 12 cells, it runs pretty cool. The s-maxx could be converted pretty easily.
what about the 3600? i have a 3100 and havent even ran it. fine designs shipping is pathetic. i ordered it the 4th (a saturday) and have yet to recieve it!
mike, could the 9920 handle a xl3600 or xl4200?
The 9920 could handle either motor. Perhaps next time you will order from here and receive the motor much quicker!
i actually ordered my motor from you; i ordered my 9920 from fine design. sorry i wasnt to clear about that. not to mention i paid 220 for mine at fine design. (it was an extra 10 to have it pre-wired)
I remember that you ordered the motor from me. I thought you also ordered another one. I install the plugs for free upon request. Any idea if the controller shipped yet?
I would not go hotter than the XL3100 on the maxx.
I run the 3100xl in my gmaxx on 12 cells it's super sick LOL!!!.
Yeah! With good cells its very powerfull i heard. Got any speedrecords made?
Well, the main question I think got looked over. What would be more of a hassle, sportmaxx to brushless maxx. Or dealing with the twin force.
You can get the sportmaxx and convert it to emaxx.. (as you sugested) and sell the nitro stuff.. with 12 cells, you can also stick with the stock diffs (aluminum diffcup and diffcase) get a g-maxx chassis.. I thought Mike has got the parts in stock to complete a singelspeed transmission.
Personally, i would take an e-maxx over a twin force any day of the week. It is just much more capable. And yes, I have the parts to build a complete single speed (although bearings are running short!).
mike, yea i got it yesterday. they said they shipped it the 10th. its kinda hard to believe because it was shipped ups ground. i installed it on my maxx and the thing is sick! especially with the spool in the rear. the thing is impossible to control at full thottle. also, were would i be able to get the stuff to heatshink some batteries?
