Over heating problems.
I run 14 cells with my EVX & Twin Titans. My truck is rather heavy, Alluminium Bulkheads, Gorilla Chassis, RPM arms. Stock wheels.
Once it starts to get hot my truck has a huge performance issue, it stutters and goes slower, is it because it is overheating? Does the EVX have any over heating features or shut downs? How do I keep it cool and would Brushless most likely run cooler? |
Never had something like this, and my Brushed setup has seen it's fair share of "hot days".
But I run a fan on the EVX, and some clip-on heatsinks. The fan mod is an easy way to keep the precious, yet sensitive EVX a bit cooler. DAF |
Out of intrest where do you get the fans from? Where do you plug them into? Another channel?
|
Fans are available from electronic shops, I just use standard cpu fans. You can even get 5 or 6V fans and plug them on to your BEC somewhere (like in an empty rx plug, if you have one)
Or use voltage-regulators or resistors and wire them to your batts. Sonds more complicated than it is. |
I think it is time to replace the titans. the brushers are probably worn and this may be causing the performance troubles.
|
Doh, shame, they havn't lasted long. First my EVX popped and smoked on first run and this one over heats too much and Titans need replacing...
Good excuse to go Brushless then! :D Will be a good few weeks yet though, need to get some more batteries orderd, RPM Shocktowers, CVDs and I'm sorted. Hopefully I can squeeze abit more life out of them. |
If you run in dusty conditions, it's a good idea to clean the Titans now and then.
Mine are still going fine. Yeah, go BL! No more Brush-worries! |
LMK if you would like me to supply the parts you need(rpm towers, etc.).

Any pics or links on fan mods?
