Help 4s or 2s in series?
I have searched the threads and can't find an answer. I would like to try 4s in my E-Maxx MM Neu 1515/1y. Does anyone make a 4s pack similar to the TrackPower packs?
Or should I buy two 2s and wire them in series? |
personally i would go with 2 different packs and wire them in a series. the reason i say this is mostly for weight distribution purposes. it would most likely handle and look better if you had two batteries on each side to use. but if you decide to go with 4s maxamps makes 4s packs. though not as cheap as trackpower packs they are still a great buy. there are also a few other companies IIRC they make 4s packs i just cant remember who.

Actually since I am running an E-Maxx with the Neu motor on one side and the battery pack on the other wouldn't that be better for weight distibution?
|
Sort of...except that a 4S pack will likely weigh a little more than the Neu and the Neu is aligned more toward the roll center of the vehicle and the battery pack is more outward from that center.

are you running the stock chassis.
I would still go with the dual setup personally because it will have a better cg because the batteries will be lower to the cars battery trays. Also as far as weight goes i would put the servo and other small things you need on the opposite side of the motor i know this will not make up for the whole motors weight but it will help even it out. but i do think with the 4s pack on one side it would not only be a tad more heaver it would also have a much higher cg. |
^ +1. Weight distribution is one thing, where that weight is distributed is another. If the greater weight is mounted more towards the center line of the vehicle, the net effect will be very closely balanced. Kinda like how a 200lb person can balance on a see-saw with a 150lb person simply by where they sit...
Also, the gyro effect of larger MT/truggy tires helps keep the vehicle straight. So, unless your weight is quite unbalanced, I wouldn't worry about it. |
Thanks guys two FlightPower 2s packs in series it is!

Flightpower or Trackpower?
I wouldn't worry about the motor being on one side, you won't notice it.Your going to have a powerful car, with the 1515 and high quality 4s lipo's. Hopefully everything goes well with the MM. |
I spoke with Mike and others on this forum and I have a setup for the MM that seems to help with cogging. W will see!?
