Need a lil BL help
Wut's up, I have been having some problems recently with my BK 9920 controller and fiego 7xl motor. I am running (2) 7 cell packs in series with an outside rx battery.
The other day it started like glitching when I would pull the throttle. It would like cogg a little and make alot of beeps like I was programming it but I wasn't, after inspecting it I found out that one of my solders on the connectors had broken loose and so after fixing that the problem went away. Well now it seems to be back again as I was driving it just now. None of the connections are loose that I could see and so I pulled the red jumper and everything out of the controller so that I could see if that would reset it, but to no avail. So now I come to you the super-wise brushless guru's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. O ya this setup is in my custom hellfire. I have had more problems with electronics in this truck than all my other trucks put together. thanks again BIG D |
A 7XL on 16 volts, huh? Wouldn't that draw more than 99 Amps?
Is there any sign of thermal overload on the controller? You know, blackened components, wierd smells, etc. Does it make any sounds at all when you turn it on now, like the "motor ready" chirp? Have you tried it with a different motor? |
A 7XL is ALOT of stress on 14 cells NiMH, no matter the quality of battery. The 7XL can draw enormous amounts of current (i used to have one), where it would consistently draw 130+ amp spikes. This might have something to do with it.

Check the magnet on the 7XL. I had a simular situation with a 9L and when I looked at the magent it was loose. I used some high strength epoxy to fix that problem.

alright I will have to work on that in the morning, any ideas on how to get the can off, amazingly I have never had a problem with this can popping!
I dunno I will have to check it with one of my other motors and let you know, but it hasn't ever had a problem with overheating. Sometimes it gets a lil warmer than I would like but it never gets so hott that I can't touch it for atleast 3 to 5 seconds. |
If the magnets get twisted, usually the can pops open.
Check to see if you have got loose contacts between the three motor wires. |
yup did the wire check, unplugged everything hooked it back up and still nada. *scratching head*
|
And is it soldered properly? that could cause problems as well.
|
yup, all soldered up neatly.
I just tried it again and it makes a progressingly higher pitched beeping noise then it kinda just makes a soft flat-line toned beep. With each beep it will try and turn the tires but just for a split second. I thought maybe the magnet or something is out of sync so I spun the motor around a few times with everything off and still nothing . . . |
It is the magnet. Mine did the same thing. Mine would cog a lot. Sometimes it would work normal and sometimes it would cog and then sounds like something was moving and making a high whining noise. That is when I knew the magnet was to blame.
|
The tires attempting to turn while beeping is pretty normal on some of my stronger setups ( like my 2250/mgm setup) the whole truck will move slightly, this is because the esc uses the motor for sound (beeps). it does sound like a problem though
Where you been Big daddy haven't seen you on in Quite a bit |
So does that mean I gotta get a new motor or what? This blows
Crazy, ya I have been out of the RC thing for a few months cause everytime I drop a few hundred to fix stuff back to running something breaks after a few weeks so I put it away again. I had my savage up, but somehow fried all the electronics except the esc. So now I gotta get a new steering servo and new rx. *rolls eyes* the saga continues. |
Ya I think it's the magnet cause I went and pulled one of my other motors and hooked it up and no problems.
Is there somewhere I can send it to get it fixed or is it a diy, I just dont want to mess it up. I have one motor that went out last week that I gotta send back to starluck to get fixed. Thanks guys |
I used a high strength epoxy which was also rated for 250+ degrees F. I bought the epoxy in Florida at a Flea marketor Swap shop. The guy said it was used for speaker magnets. My motor is the one with a single magnet. In another thread a member mentioned the alignement of the magents. My motor with the single magnet has 2 market lines going from the magnet to the stopper looking thing.

To open the motor up, just tap the shaft onto a hard surface, and the rear end bell should pop off, then you can remove the rotor/magnet to check for toast-age.
