PowerStroke shock spring colors?
Does any one know the spring colors for PowerStrokes. So far I have:
Primary/Secondray black/green soft red/yellow medium orange/blue firm |
gray/white extra firm
|
Thanks Doug. I guess that is all of them. I am trying a firm set on the rear to see how I do with ride hieght and acceleration squat. I think the red/yellow is a little soft.
|
I have see green/black as well.
Although I'm not sure of how they are rated. Would they be "soft"? |

Yes they are. |
you can also mix up primaries and secondaries. at one point i had a red/blue spring combination that worked better than the red/yellow or blue/orange.
|
Good thought ClodMaxx. I am running without the bypass shocks and trying to get a good combination of springs to bash with.
|
What is the purpose on the primary and secondary spring?
|
So that when compressed it uses two different rates, such as the larger spring will be softer and compress faster than the smaller spring which is usually stiffer to soften the blow of jumps and bumps. I wish I could use these shocks on my savage, they seem like well built dampers.
|
other way around. the small top spring is softer and is what controls ride height and minor dips while driving. the secondary, longer spring is stiffer and is what absorbs bumps and jumps.
they're nice shocks - i had a set for about a year. the prices always were crazy - i bought my set brand new for $110, which at the time i thought was crazy. now a used set on feebay goes way over that. |
Got mine used from a member of this forum. So, far I love them. Just learnig from you guys how to tweak them for my truck. Thanks for the advice/info.

Good shocks, too bad proline's money horny attitude SUCKS.. If they don't sell enough, they simple stop producing them..
Way to go proline.. |
tee hee... money horny. that's good... i'll hafta remember that. =)
i called proline about 8 months ago when i first saw 'discontinued' on towerhobbies site. the guy at proline told me they were too expensive to produce and not enough demand. yep.... 'money horny'. my favorite mishap by proline is coming out with (to me) the most amazing body - the baja - and then pulling them from production because they didn't have VW's legal approval to release them. luckily i got a regular length one as well as an extended baja body before they got pulled. =) |
Yeah, that kinda sucks for us, but makes sense from a business perspective. It's hard to make money on something if demand is very low for something that is relatively costly to create...
|
yeah, but somehow you are obliged to your customers.
If you say A, you have to say B, as simple as that.. It's quite simple; if their profit wasn't high enough, they didn't searched hard enough for fair priced producers. |
