E Lst/Aftershock questions

I am gathering parts for my Aftershock/Lst conversion and was wondering what you guys would say about esc choices. I will be removing all the nitro stuff and the stock tranny and putting in an emaxx tranny. Have to fab a new top plate out of al. I will keep the 2 speed in the tranny, just put some steel idlers in it. Motor will be the KB 45-10l 1800kv motor and batteries will be maxamps 10000mah 14.8 lipo. I have both lying around. Do you think that the mm will have trouble with this? I know the truck is heavy and intend to add some caps to the power input of the mm. I will run the stock wheels/tires and gear for 45mph in 2nd gear. Let me know what you think.

Hmm, big truck. Personally I think you would be pushing the esc in a truck that large, but with extra low esr caps & the ubec/rx pack it should be okay- just add a fan to the esc to help keep temps down. The worst that happens is the esc overheats and thermals (but hopefully doesnt fry), so you just get a Quark or MGM. I've only seen one or two other LST conversions but I dont recall the esc used.

That may well be too much to ask of the MM. I would try it with caps and fan and see how it does if you already have the MM. I would rather use a MGM for something that size though.

And a L can motor HAS to be too small for the lst IMO

Go for a XL motor

And some 8k packs, those 10k packs are too big and heavy, and will just cost you run time, and add heat because there so heavy

You may be right, but it is the 45 mm wide kb motor, not a 35 mm wide feigao. It is 62 mm long, so not as long as a 540xl. It should have plenty of torque, with a big rotor like that. I would have bought the xl can but it was out of stock at the time I ordered. The 10000 4s pack is only 95 grams heavier than the 8000 4s2p pack. Also ithe 8000 is taller than the 10000 pack, 50mm compared to 32mm. The length and width are not a problem as I am making a battery tray out of lexan anyway. Plus the main reason is the 10000 pack is free cause I have it and the 8000 pack would be 240 even with my discount. Also not too fond of packs that have cells in parallel, can't balance all of the cells to each other, only pairs of cells. I know that a 2s pack rarely goes out of balance but i am picky with my lipo charging and maintenance.

Well then

That sounds like a good set up!

I will try to get it together asap. Still need to fab a top deck out of al to hold the tranny in and the motor should be here next week, near friday. Ebay has free listing fees till sept 30th so I will be selling of all the nitro stuff and some of my bl stuff too. Time to clean up, I have too much stuff!!

jnev 08.30.2007 01:34 AM

Mine on 4S with MM

With 5S and MM

MM will handle 4S on this truck no problem. Especially since you'll will have 1st gear to help ease the launch,

Nice looking truck riceman. What kind of top speed are you getting with the 4s setup on your truck? Also, what settings do you have on the mm to make it start so smooth with that neu motor?
