Actually I have sold all the minis except the mini quake, it is the best out of them all IMO.

I still have everything else on that list save the jato, sportmaxx and the xxx-nt(my buddy sold it).

All of my nitro stuff is gone too, good riddance!!!

I have quite a bit more but it is mainly Tamiya kits with brushed motors that I have for display, gotta love Tamiya!!

BrianG 08.30.2007 01:00 AM

I only ran one nitro truck (revo) and that was enough experience for me to feel the same way. I spent more time tuning the motor and cleaning up the exhaust mess than I did running it!

In the near future, I plan to pick up an IRC Vulcan (nitro) that a friend of mine wants to get rid of and converting that. Should be a simple and fun little project that isn't too costly (which is one of the main things I like about smaller conversions).

lincpimp 08.30.2007 01:26 AM

The little vulacan sounds fun. IRC make a brushless version of it called the photon. They go for about 275 on ebay IIRC

Why not do a HB Lightning Stadium 10, they go for 189 with free s/h at ultimate hobies and it it super easy to convert on. Similar to the crt.5 but bigger, jato size, both of which you already have. The best part is that with some careful ebaying of the nitro parts you should come out about 100 bucks or less in the hole. Thats pretty cheap for any vehicle. It uses 54 tooth mod 1 spurs and has a slipper. It is a great truck to bash, very sturdy, just like the 1/8 lsp. If you get that vulacan what motor/esc would you use? Some thing like a lehner 22 series sound good!!!!

jnev 08.30.2007 01:32 AM

Incredible collection you got there. Just let me know if you want to get rid of any ESC's, motors, or batteries. How does the LS10 compare to the CRT.5? I was considering one those two or the new 1/10 MGT2 for my next project.

Also, is the handling of the MBX buggy really affected from having the 10,000mAH lipo pack on it? Seems like quite a lot of weight on one side, and not enough on the other, lol.

Yeah that 10000 is too heavy, I will use it on my aftershock. A lighter battery will help the MBX as it needs a better balance.

The LS10 is a great truck, IMO. It is built solid, has a slipper, 54 tooth mod 1 spur that will last forever, it is thick! Shocks and arms are just downsized versions of the 1/8 scale lsp, plenty beefy. I would recommend it to anyone, especially as a basher, in that respect it is better than the crt.5, and alot cheaper. The crt.5 would be a better track vehicle, and has slightly higher quality parts, but not much. I also think that the LS10 is slightly lighter, despite being bigger. It uses associated 10th scale truck rear wheels and tires too. The fact that you can get a LS10 for 189 inc s/h from ultimate hobbies and sell the radio and nitro stuff means that you could have a roller for less than 100 bucks!! Thats a great deal to me.

Yeah, I had gotten a Photon at one point but was disappointed. Here is the thread about it.

However, the Vulcan contains a lot more Aluminum parts and seems a lot sturdier. Pretty much every issue I had with the Photon is addressed in the Vulcan. IRC must have cut some corners to afford to install a BL system in there or something...

"Yeah, I have a questions. What's an XSF-171?"

I was searching for stuff on the LS10 and found this old thread. Wow nice resume James. Looks like it's been a year since this thread. Have you tried anything new you could add to the list since joining RCM?

Good lord, I had completely forgotten about this thread...

It would take a while, I must have at least 20-30 more vehicles since the last list...

Anything specific you would like info on?

Gee 09.24.2008 11:11 PM

No other then the xs-171 or was it the xsf-171. I like that part in Armageddon when he ask if anyone has any intellegent questions. I was just curious what the list would look like a year later.

Actually I have a couple I've been trying to figure out. Do you think the OFNA Monster Pirate is about the same size as the LS10? They have a servo setup that is complete that I thought about trying.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=OFNC1834&P=K
How about he Duratrax Street Force GP?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXTT91&P=K
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXTT91&P=K
Both of them would be needed.

HPI has the RS4
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXM594&P=K
is that large enough?
If it is would I need the larger one of these like this one?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXPCX2&P=K

I bought this one last time but is seems pretty small will have to add spacer to the top and bottom to get to fit without and slop up and down.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXPYZ7&P=K

I order the wrong stuff last time
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXPZB7&P=K
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXTB42&P=K

One didn't have the arms setup so you could have the server saver part at a 90 degee angle only straight. The other didn't even have a servo saver.
Looking for the perfect servo saver that is in the bellcrank to go on my ls10.

Are the HPI MT2 differential about the same as the ls10?
THe gear drives are shorter on the ls10, but could the gear drives be interchanged with out the whole differential swap?

You know how the LS10 has dog bone slop. A shock 0-ring is about 1mm and I put one of those in each cup to help hold the dog bones in. The MT2 has 7x86mm dog bones. Do you think the ls10 would take a 86mm. I was thinking about using a dremmel and a coned grinding stone to increase the cups size to allow a 7mm shaft to fit.

Are the rear carriers for the mt 2 about the same as the ls10 for size? THe 5x10 bearing just dont last. I used the 4-tec rear carries for a while but they can't handle the weight on landings and snap. On screen they look to be a fit and also use the larger 5x11 bearings.

I am using the front ones from the mt2 and they work with a little modification and a 5x10 bearing as a spacer and shim to keep the axle from sliding farther away from the bearing. THe pictures explain it better.

You used the HPI CVD on your ls10. I tried to find a part to check them out but couldn't find the right ones. THe lenths were all in the 100mm range. Maybe they measure the end of the axle all the way in. Could you give me a link to which one would work when get a chance.

Well that's a couple I've been trying to figure out. Thanks.

lincpimp 09.24.2008 11:18 PM

I really need to get a sandwich to read the whole post, but I will say that the hpi cvds I used were crap... They broke very easily. Maybe some sort of MIP cvd would work, not sure how they measure them though...

Gee 09.25.2008 02:41 AM

I'm going to start a thread to put upgrades/mods for the ls10 like you suggested. Maybe you can pitch in on that when you get done with you sandwich. No hurry would like to see the 1/8 maxx diff done along with some of the other ideas you've got brewing too.
