hot controller/warm motor/ cold batts
how to fix this?
im using a crt .5 5700 mm esc 14t pinion stock spur stock sized tires so!?!? thanks! |
What batts?
Typically, those temps mean you're overgeared. Dropping the pinion by a couple of teeth should help. |
ture-rc 2s packs
so i need to drop even more teeth? |
Yep...looks like it. You're geared for over 40mph as it is. I'd drop down to a 12T and see how it does.

40? wtf am i doing wrong lol i put in all my info and im getting 26mph haha

The tires are ~3.5" in diameter. 2.2" is the wheel diameter. Change that and you'll see the difference in the calculator. looks like it is overgeared...

You may also find that the little 5700 will have trouble with the crt.5. Even though it is small it is still heavy and has alot of traction so it can load the motor more than a 2wd can. I will stand by my testing of the mm motors. I have had every one of them and found that the feigao 380c s can motors out performed the mm motors. I had a 5700 in a pede and it got too hot, a 7700 in an onroad car, very hot and a 6900 in a LS10 conversion that was also very hot. Even the feigao 540 s can motors will outperform a mm motor (and the velineon motor). i run a 10l and a 9l feigao in my crt on 3s lipo and the temps stay in the 150-160 range. MM esc stays at about 130 and the batts are at 100-110. I have even run the 10l in my LS10 on 4s lipo with good results. I would gear that 5700 down to about 35 mph on the calculator and it should be fine. Looks like you have some good lipos, they can handle a hot system without heating up themselves. True RC lipos look to be a great deal in the lower priced lipo war.

ya the true rc packs are great.
and i feel pretty stupid with the whole tire thing... lmao! o well now i know! LOL what would you reccomend lilpimp? for a 2s setup? |
lol, don't feel bad, but the little question mark help thing by the tire field does say "Enter the total tire diameter in inches, which includes the rim." Just giving you a hard time.
For 2s, I would get a 6L or an 8S. lincpimp: I agree with your assessment of the S motors vs the MM motors even though I've never had an S motor. They have the same outside dimensions, but the coils on the MM are substantially shorter yielding less torque. And if the XL motors are any guide, the Feigaos look like they have tighter winds. So, it makes sense. |
The 380C/6L is a great motor. Had it b4 the mambas came out and would not trade it in. It does great in my heavy Rustler, but IDK about a .5 as I've never played w/ one.

I would do a 6l or 7l. I think the 6l would be ok cause your batts can handle it. It will draw some current and make quite a bit of power. Plus it is cheap, not sure if Mike has any laying around, but Steven at offshore electrics can hook you up. 60 bucks and about 5 or 6 for shipping. He uses that same shipping method as Mike, the fast one that no one else can figure out! He is a great guy, will go out of his way to answer any ? to the best of his ability. He is like the electric boat version of Mike!!
Heres a link to his site, check out the boat hulls, he has some killer stuff. If you could not tell I am also a brushless boat freak too, Nothing Like 40+ on the water in a 27 inch boat!! www.offshoreelectrics.com |
