Traxxas CVDs, how good are they? BL worthy?
 
I'm about to rip my u-joint out and went to the LHS. The stock sliders were so expensive I got the TRX CVDs instead, but I'm unsure whether to keep them, or just ebay sliders and keep replacing. They look good, but who knows. Any thoughts or experiences?

Are you talking centers or outboards?

I have the centers and so far they are fine.

I'm looking to get the outboard shafts as soon as they in stock somewhere.

The 4. They are that new then? Hmm, if the center hold up that's a good sign.

I bought the cheap 6 peiceset of cvds of ebay and they are holding up fine. I think they were about 60 bucks shipped for all 6. Hang on heres a link:

Those don't look like the Traxxas CVD's to me? The Traxxas ones have red boots, IIRC.

Blue boots and red anodizing. They do look sharp.

I took it as "I bought cheap ones and even they are working.."

I twisted the ones linked below in 1 day of bashing. I went back to the 3.3 shafts. Whats wrong w/ the stock 3.3 shafts? They hold up better than the cheapo cvds Ive tried in the past.

Since I took out the CD, and the way my V2 Revo is wheely resistant/proof, the rear sliders are taking much more abuse than I've had before. The holes loosened up quickly, and the joint is about to tear. I can endlessly replace the plastic ones, or considering just having one good set of CVDs. Don't want to throw $ away on junk tho.

In that case, the best ones i tried were the MIP, but I still broke those. Actually split the bone from the cup. I haven't tried the Tsais (I think thats how its spelled) that Mike carries. I have heard they were pretty good though. If you looking for the magic bullet. I havent found it for the Revo yet. 3.3 are about as good as it gets IMO. The Traxxas ones look pretty decent. I would givwe those a try.

I really wish UE would do Revo CVDs or T-maxx 3.3 CVDs. UE seems to have the toughest around, but dont offer a 3.3 solution that I know of unless its fairly recent.

I got the Traxxas ones for my Revo a couple months ago when they first came out. Unfortunately I did manage to break an axle on one pretty early on, and it took a couple weeks to get an axle. Since that I haven't had any problems with them, but my Revo does run a home-made "slipperential".

Well I went ahead and put them in the rear. They do seem quite well done. The boots are nice for holding things together and give them a spring loaded feel. They went in easy enough, however the only disappointment is that they say not to be used w/ the LT rockers, and to do the +19mm ext arms you have to buy a separate ext cup so they don't come out. I just moved the carriers to the +10mm position then. We'll see how they hold up...

I have them in my BL revo, they seem to hold up fine. I have ordered the traxxas extended diff outdrives to put on the rear so I can run the extended arms in the +19mm position (I have the 2.5 chassis).

I tried the TRX CVDs for the Jato and broke an out-drive cup within a couple battery packs. Maybe it was a fluke, but the stockers have held up wayyy better (still on stock set). Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to disassemble the diff to change from CVD to sliders...

The 3.3 sliders are cheap enough to keep replacing I guess.

But I'm tired of twisting the ends off of them.

I'm going for some steel cvd's at some point but I don't know which ones.

I think I may get the new Traxxas ones.

I'm using TRX centers in My E-Maxx, no signs of wear so far.
