Hextronik ESC question
 

Hi,

Did anyone test this ESC? Is it junk or actually useful? The reviews on UH say that it's good but I just have my doubts about buying something developed and made in China...

I heard it cogs really bad on start up. You will also need to use mechanical brakes.

The hextronic lipos are good, not sure about the esc though. For 50 bucks you could give it a try and if you don't like it sell it on ebay. That is what I do, and I have not lost money yet, I even make a profit sometimes.

I've heard the cogging is only that bad with 2 pole motors or does this apply to 4 pole arms aswell? Are the Elec. brakes that bad!?

I heard it cogs no matter what motor you use. The controller either has brakes on or off. I was testing a 100A 10S controller and it had options for soft brake, but it is not proportional. I had to set my radio to work with the controller and it was a pain to get it right. The Hextronik I think doesn't have any setting for brake strength. which means if you don't have the right settings on your radio to have freewheel when you let go of the throttle, it will stop your vehicle in an instant. That is not good for the drive train trust me on this one.

Ah, they don't make that 100A so called 10S controller anymore. The 10S specs were wrong (it was a 6S) and most ppl had problems with them so they've been disco'd. Maybe things have changed... MAYBE.

Guess I'll follow lincpimp's advice. German/Austrian hobbyists eat up ANYTHING, most time I've made profit by reselling stuff I didn't like that I got from the US (Like UE Maxx front turnbuckles I got for 7 bucks that I sold for 26 Euro...)

If you check UH site you will see a 100A 6S controller and the OEMRC 100A 12S controller. The one I was talking ablout is not those from UH, I was testing it in order to get an idea of my own 200A 14-15S controller.
