Front/rear bumper on maxx
Hi
Do you guys run front/rear bumpers on your maxx trucks? I have almost converted everything on my E-maxx to alu or titanium, and now I am with the bumpers. Shall I upgrade them to alu/titanium, or simply just take them off. Are they needed on the truck in races? Anybody else thought about this? Best regards Jesper |
buy RPM front and rear bumpers for your maxx. they are lightweight, totally indestructible (i really mean this, broken every thing except these bumpers) and look cool.
use the stock bumper mounts. also, when you are tightening the screws for the mounts, tighten them up then loosen them by 1/4 to 3/4 turn back. this will ensure that the mounts flex during an impact. if your using aluminium bulkhead braces, use loctite on the screws to set this position. |
3 Attachment(s)
I agree with biddy but I went with the rpm a arms all around, full skid plates, front and rear shock towers ( the only thing bad about them is only one shock mounting position one them compared to the 3 on the stock ) and also the bumpers and bulkhead braces

I dont:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...0photos/77.jpg I just dont like the way they look, makes a truck look like a cheap radioshack toy. I would never recommend a metal bumper AND braces though, since any shock caused by a crash is transfered through to the bulkheads and chassis, not good. |

I run a RPM bumper in the front ONLY. I really like the clean look without a bumper on the rear. Plus I dont use reverse much. :oh:
Ti skids take care of the drag duty when the front lifts. No need to grind away a plastic bumper out back. |

i shredded an RPM front bumper. head-on collision with a pole, and the pole won. a couple big chunks of RPM plastic went flying.
the only metal bumper w/metal supports that seems to make sense is VBS bumpers, ti VBS skids and ti jounces. the jounces act as a spring to absorb impact, and the titanium acts as a spring in itself (to a certain degree of impact. a lot will mess it up, i'm sure). i won't be testing it... |
Thats the great thing about Ti, its so flexible it can deflect a long way without bending, but a big impact will still hurt it. God forbid you should intentionally crash your Supermaxx ClodMaxx, it would be a crime.

I dont run any bumpers, saves 50g off the truck! yahoo... but if you bash really hard, please do run them

I run RPM bumpers and stuff on front and rear of my Maxx.
But then I beat the %#@!&* out of it on a regular basis. :mdr: I always wondered why RPM doesn't make bumper braces for the Maxx? |
Probably because the stock one never break...i'm sure they tought of it tought...

I use titanium bumpers by Hardcore Racing with stock plastic bumper mounts...looks cool...strong as heck...and the stock mounts effectively absorb energy from the bumpers.

I won a HCR TI bumper and mounts on ebay last week and after looking at it when I got it, I decided I would mount the TI bumper on stock mounts - I moved the metal bumper mounts to the rear - I want that weak link in the front. In the back those mounts shouldn't contribute to damage - all my crashes so far have been on the front end.
It is a nice looking bumper! |
7075
Not for nothing but I have one of my trucks setup with 7075 CNC mounts and bumpers, but I compressed high density foam between the mount and the bumper for absorbing the impact with oversize screws to hold it together. I just like the massive look that it has, plus it protects the rest of the truck from being smashed up. With a tough wing assembly and a roll bar nothing of any real value gets hurt. Like it was stated earlier the RPM stuff is plenty tough enough, but people say it looks like a radio shack toy because of the plastic bumber. So I look for a more impressive way to deal with impacts. Sorry!!:intello:
