bulkess hb gears + hvmaxx gearing ratio
hey guys i am in the process of installing a spur on my flm maxx.
for my 4.5 novak suggests 12/72. however i have the bulkess hot bodies gears. so where should i start for gearing since i am assuming the ratio is changed from stock. thank you! |
with the stock emaxx diffs and emaxx trans in 2nd and 12/72 you have a 29.4:1 final drive ratio, what is the gear ratio of those diffs?
|
if they are 43t/10t, id start at 66/16 for a final drive ratio of 30:1, just remember that the hvmaxx dont like to be overgeared, and depending on truck weight i would stay above 28:1, to be on the safe side
|
i have no idea. but they are gears from a hot bodies lightning stadium.
|
well when you find out use this
http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html and enter in your info, then scroll down and you will see the final drive or (reduction) ratio |
thanks alot entjoles. i remember seeing the gear ratio of my diffs while browsing. i hope i can find it.
|
i couldnt find it with a quick search in the rcmonster store, otherwise i would have helped more, should be close to the 66/16
|
entjoles, they are 13/43. will 12 pinion and 72 spur be okay?
i don't have much to work with. pinions: 12,18,22 spurs: 72,70,66 |
12/72 will be good , esp. if the truck is heavy
12/72=34:1 14/70=28.5:1 12/70=33.2:1 14/72=29.3:1 13/72=31.5:1 stay in the 30-32 : 1 range and the novak wont  |
thanks entjoles. i did not get those figures with the numbers i entered.
12/72 it is!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!! |
no problem, that gearing will be good as long as you are using a emaxx trans, i figured it out in 2nd gear
|
66/12 will work as well if you want more speed and the novak is handling 72/12 ok. It would be 31.3:1
|
i am satisfied with 12/72 in the novak.
now a new problem has occurred. the steering is horrible i am using the digital 645mg. the bearings in the steering bellcranks closest the the chassis tend to slide out because there is nothing holding them in place (flm chassis doesnt have the post). does anyone know a part to hold the bearings in place? also: how do i make my my wheels straight? i am not sure how far i need to screw the pillow / pivot balls in. i try to stop as soon as the thread disappears into the A-arms. can someone give me help with this? i can't wait to get this thing running:lol: |
Put some blue locktite on the thread. That will make it be tighter inside the a-arm. It is definitely necessary with metal a-arms, but usually with plastic, it is not needed... unless you get the same problem that you are having.
|
Which way are the wheels not straight? I usually screw the top pillow ball in till there's no more thread showing and then have about a 1-2mm more of the bottom one sticking out. That seems to work on my car.
With the bell crank thing, bearings were falling out of mine as well so I cut the posts off my old stock chassis and used them as a spacer. You might need to ad a washer or two to get the correct spacing. Should be able to use those posts with the old chassis again if needed. |
