Need advice on a setup?
I have an E-Maxx with all appropriate drive train upgrades. Mostly RPM plastic to keep my weight down. I purchased a Neu/1y/1f motor and tried to use it to with my existing MM and 14 cells. The voltage was too high. I do have two TrackPower 2s1p packs that I have not opened yet, but could probably use with the MM. I plan on purchasing either a MGM 224/18 or a 160/18 because I can not tolerate the cogging.
My question is should I open and use the TrackPower batteries or because the MGM can handle more get a 6s or 18 cell batteries? My current gearing is 52/17. I wanted at about 40mph for bashing. The bigger batts according to Brians speed calculator put me abouve 50mph. If I went with the bigger batts I could get a heavier extended chassis for better control or smaller batts and stay plastic? |
The 1515/1Y on 6S is going to be too much in my opinion. More voltage is usually a better thing, but I'd get a lower kv motor to run on that much voltage. The 1515/1Y on 4S is about perfect in a truck. On 5S it gets to be a bit too much. On 6S I think that it would be way beyond practical.
My everyday setup in my 8ight T is a 1515/2.5d on 5S. Geared 18/48 with Proline Badlands MT tires, I clocked it at 50 mph. It's a lot of power and speed for a truck. For 6S, I'd get a motor with an even lower kv rating. Since you already have the 1Y, I'd just run the 4S setup and maybe get a 5S pack later for occassional insanity. The 1Y is a good motor and the Compro stays very cool. |
Thanks. That is they way I'll go. I just charged my batts and ordered the 160/18 from Mike. in 2 days they'll be no cogging.

6s lipo will be 2x as powerful as 4s lipo given the same motor, your rpm will go up 50%, and torque curve 50%.... 2x as powerful, in other words yes, stupid-crazy-insane-retarded fast! :surprised: |
