Too Much Power or what
Im Gonna be running a Quark 125b Gear Ratio 35/60 in a TC4 with a lehner 4300xl basic and 5s max amps.. what should i be looking to get out of this if Pros and cons... Please advise

It'll be fast, no doubt. It should theoretically exceed 100mph, but you might only get to 100mph due to range, distance, or sight limitations.

What should i use to cool the speed control and what kind of body should i use... I bought a bullet wedge from CustomRC any other suggestions

Strong rubber tires and a big, smooth parking lot. Good luck, a mamba 4600 on 4s is wayy too much power for my tc3. 5s and a bigger motor is going to be undriveable without serious work, i.e. something like this: http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/s...d.php?t=238639 .
Cooling the speed control shouldnt be an issue, the 125b's amp rating is so far beyond what youll be able to pull with a little touring car. Though I have no experience with the big quarks. Your bullet wedge is pretty similar to the protoform lola body I run, which works far better than a normal tc body. A smooth undertray does wonders though. |
i think the motor could blow apart because of the sheer rpm on 5s. im not kidding.

Yes my 4200XL rotor broke loose on only 3s (47,000 rpm's). I now run a 3100XL on 3s. 5s would be nuts.

I have it on 3s now and have no issues withit at all... I dont do extended runs i may do 2 passes and i have about 250 yds of clean street to run on...

I had my XL1200 come loose at 4s, but JB Weld has held since

The centrifical force on the rotor increases squared as the rpm goes up. So going from 3s to 5s is almost 3 times as hard on the rotor in that sense.

Yeah, its best to slow things down a bit. I was wanting to do a dragster with some kinda crazy high rpm set up in it and planned on just using a cheap motor like a nemesis that has a warrenty, so I would not thrash my nice purple ones.
