6L 8 cells rustler what gearing?

A rustler with stock tires, an MM controller and 8 cells, the 7700 that came with the MM gets too hot for me and I have a 6L just sitting on a shelf. I'd appreciate any info, whether or not to swap the motors, and if so, what gearing. Thanks rcm forum members!

For mine I used 16/84, altho I did have M2ks on. Any higher gearing did not produce any extra spd for me.

For reg tires I think I used 18/84, but its been so long I dont remem.

I would convert over to jato spurs and use 58/14 gearing. Std jato spur will mount up if you have the xl5 slipper and get pinions from mike.

Is the Revo spur fit on the Stampede xl5 slipper???
I want to put my feigao 540 9L on my FLM stampede on 3s li-po:intello:, the shaft of my motor is 5mm and the only pinion i have is mod1.

sorry, a 540 6L, so few people run anything that small around here I forgot they even made 380 sized motors! thanks everyone for sharing knowledge

The revo gear will fir but will be too small and require a tiny pinion. An Associated Monster GT spur will fit with slight modification and is mod 1, 52 teeth. This helps cause the largest revo spur is 40 tooth and will cause gearing issues, think 5-8 tooth pinion to get anywhere near correct for the rustler. To mod the MGT spur the center hole must be opened up to accept the bearing from the slipper. I also drill out three of the smaller holes to the same size as the mounting bosses on the slipper so that the spur will sit flush with the slipper. This may sound difficult but is really clear when you have the gear next to the slipper. Kimbrough makes different sized spurs for the MGT and that will help with gearing.

Depend, if the revo 40 tooth mod1 is the same diameter than the stock stampede 84 tooth 48 pitch, no prob for gearing, with a mod1 13 tooths pinion, it's suppose to be not to bad?? I'am wrong???
I've did the test on R/C calculation and this is what i've experience.

Ok, I would try that. The gearing you mentioned will put your pede near 50mph if you run 3s lipo on the 9l. As long as your pede is light the l motor should run ok, not too hot. I would test that setup by temping the motor and esc frequently on the test run.

i ran the 540 6l and like it waaaaaaaaay more than the 7700 from castle. i can't believe it, it's geared lower, spinning half as fast, but i have more torque, longer run times, and no bogging down in the tall grass, anyone wanna buy a cm36 7700?

Put it on ebay, I got almost 80 bucks for the last CC motor I sold.
