maybe not so much the moter being used, but the method. i haven't ran across this type of mod since i got an emaxx and started upgrading and i want to know if this is any good or am i better off sticking with a spur/pinion setup with slipper. any info on this would be helpful.

Thats Sikeston's tranny mod/upgrade that he sells. There was a big thread about outrunner conversions on the tempory forum- I will find the link in a minute.

i wouldn't risk running without a slipper. but that's just me.

I got a double grunt on both slippers on my trucks, I don't think, if it has the steel idlers, it will be a problem. My concern would be getting the speed right, you have to adjust by batteries (2s,3s,4s ect.) and that could get expensive if you miss

That was the main concern I believe, the solution was to experiment alot with the numbers, until you found something that sounded right. Thank goodness for the speed calculator is all I can say.
