So close I can taste it!!!
I finaly got a motor!!!!:yipi: Thanks to pb4ugo I am the proud owner of a 1950\7 for my E-Revo. But I am not to the end yet. Gearing is all I have left. I need a spur gear and a pinion. I have the Emaxx tranny with a stock 32 pitch 72 tooth spur gear with a stock pinion (18 teeth.) Kind of small for the 5mm shaft.
I spoke with RC Mike last week. He turned me onto the Strobe Slipper. After explaining how I would melt the stock peg slipper I went to buy one. To my Disappointment Mike is out of stock. I tried asking him when they would be back in stock. He is busy so my emails have gone unanswered. Does anyone know when they will be in stock or where I can get one besides Mike? Or is there one that would be just as good? I need a spur gear with about 50 teeth for the gearing I will run. I was going with the 51 tooth Ofna Mike has. (fits the spur) If I was up running I could wait with more patience but I am so close. Any thoughts??? |
Well, you might consider robinson spurs and slipper. The spurs are 32 pitch delrin and the slipper is the disc type and with the correct gear mesh will hold up just fine. Plus you should be able to get them any where.
|
Have you seen a Robinson with less than 65 teeth? Thats the smallest I can find. I need around 50 teeth for the gearing I am shooting for. I am shooting for 35 to 40 mph.
|
I think a 66t spur will do, plus mike has pinions all the way to 24 teeth won't that be tall enough?
|
Its not the height I am trying to achieve. Its the gearing ratio for 35 to 40 mph for my truck.

the strobe is much tougher than the robinson (which i had before). |
What ratio, sput/pinion, are you trying to achive. If you want to run a larger spur than 51 teeth you would need to run a larger pinion to get the same ratio. For example a 51/18 would have the same ratio as a 65/23, both about 2.83/1.

You're welcome:mdr:
For the time being, just drill out some 32p pinions. It's not ideal, but will get you running 'til you have luck finding a Strobe. Don't you have a machinist at work willing? If not I have a drill press at my house we could hack into some cheapo pinions with:yes: |
Sweet! Once again Pb4ugo to the rescue. I do have a machine shop here so I will have some work done. If not I will call you in a week. Its good news to hear I can use a 65\24 for the same ratio. Thats the way I will go until I can get a strobe purchased.

I use RC10GT spurs made by RRP on my emaxx tranny, they have them from 54 to 67 tooth count.
|
I saw those yesterday. Do I need to make any modifications to them? or do they slide right on? Are they 32 pitch or mod1? This would help.
|
when coolrunnings asked "is that tall enough" he wasn't referring to the physical dimensions of the spur, rather, meant, "is that high enough gearing" or "is that a good enough ratio" gearing for speed is referred to as gearing up or higher gearing, or taller gearing

I run them with RRP slipper pads, they are 32 pitch. |
Do I need to make any modifications to the slipper clutch? I mean do they slide right onto the shaft on the transmission? Or do i need to change some things. Maybe the bearings or slipper plates? Thanks.
