Hv-Maxx in rustler
Hello all,
I am thinking of putting my Hv-maxx system in my rustler and runing it off one 7 cell pack, what do you think? I know there are way better brushless systems for the rustler, but I am broke! What gearing should I use? Stock is 23/86 I was going to try 18/86 |
Been there! However, on only 7 cells you're better off with one of Novak's smaller BL systems unless you plan to power-up in the future. Mine was geared 19/87 with 4s LiPo, man did it fly!

Do you think it will be much better then stock on only 7 cells?

Which HV are you getting, the 4.5 or 6.5? The 4.5 is 4,800 kv, the 6.5 is 3,100. Assuming 1V/cell under load that would be:
7V*4,800=33,600rpm, 7V*3,100=21,700rpm The 4.5 would be a better choice for 7 cells. Definitely better than stock. Depending on the weight of your truck, it will be really quick. The Novak systems are sensored which gives them zero cogging along with great torque at any speed. Running on 4s LiPo I could still pull wheelies from a stop with the small HPI tires, nevermind my Masher 2ks. |
I have the 6.5, I though the 6.5 was 4400kv.
The only reason I am thinking of doing this is beacuse I have everything here and will not need buy anything |
I see. The 6.5 is 3,100kv. The older version of the HV-Maxx aptly named the "HV-Maxx 4400" was 4,400kv. This is what I had in my Rustler a while back. Is there any way you could fit both of your E-Maxx batteries in the Rustler? Or do you have some other batteries around that you could make a 9-12 cell pack from? You could just throw it in and see how it goes on 7 cells, maybe gear it really high to get some good speed. I promise you'll still be able to do endless donuts...

I was just looking, and I have 3 cells that I will use to make a 10 cell pack
|
Just make sure that they're the same capacity. 10 cells will be A LOT better. Have fun!
