quark glitch?
Hi, I have a E-maxx with a quark 125 controller with a neu 1515/1y, 8000 maxamps batteries, and stock transmission locked into 2nd gear. I am using the strobe slipper with the 51 tooth spur and a 16 tooth pinion.
I have a problem and I will explain it exactly as it happens: I accelerate to high speed. I brake and slow down to medium speed (Such as when I enter a turn). As soon as I accelerate again (Such as once I've entered the turn), the motor seems to seize for a split second, cause a shock in the drivetrain. Besides sometimes flipping the car over, this has also caused problems with my front diff. It only happens in this specific situation. I have talked to quark about it and they assured me they have never encountered this problem before, and that is probably isn't a problem with the ESC. Has anyone else had problem, or can anyone provide any insight into what might be causing it? I suspect it might have something to do with the free-play in the e-maxx transmission. |
It sounds like you might have a bad ring gear in one of the diffs. I only say that because it happened to me.

Its not that, I just rebuilt the front and rear diffs. This isnt anything like a diff slipping, it seems like the controller is confused as to where the rotor is, and tries to turn it the wrong way.

What radio are you using? Could be a form of glitching. Also, what are the temps of the ESC/batteries when this happens?

What setting is your LVC on?

I'm using a spectrum, and I dont see how it could be radio glitching since it only happens in the specific situation I mentioned. I am also able to recreate the problem every time, regardless of motor or ESC temps.
I usually keep the quark set at "Li-poly Normal", I also tried it at li-poly high and the same thing happens. |
That sounds like the problem that the MM's had with bad connectors, where it seemed to lose the rotor and momentarily and either hit reverse or brakes for a split second. Is it possible that it may be a bad motor connector?

I suppose thats possible, I found the quark connectors were hard to solder without having something to hold the wire in place. I will try to re-solder them. Do you have any tips on how to solder the quark connectors?

With a very hot iron- get the heat in there quick to avoid heating the motor/esc internally. What kind of timing are you running? it might be worth setting it to soft to see if that makes a difference?...

Yea, I have a 220 watt weller soldering gun that i used, I think that should be enough. I have tried it on all the torque settings, and its currently on the lowest one.

Try running it on NiMH mode, just to see if that works?
But, I also think it might be your radio... I was using stock radio and i had the weirdest glitches ever, and like you said, I could recreate them. |
Try to use race mode without safe mode.
I solve the same kind of problem with this setup. It could be some kind of glitch to cause the problem. However, I burn my esc with wrong polarity after I found the solution. Pretty sad. |
