Locktite question
Im need to locktite a grub screw into plastic regular blue threadlock inst cutting it. What should i used? Also the grub screw is keeping the pinion on my 9xl.
Thanks |
Locktite is designed for metal on metal contact screws, definitely not for metal on plastic - it won't help.
|
What i meant is there anything that will help hold the screw in

You are using a plastic pinion?
|
If the pinion is plastic and the screw is metal, you might have a hard time there. Might be time to look for a metal pinion.
Does the motor shaft have a flat spot on it? If not you could create a flat spot on the shaft with a dremel where the screw touches it - that would help. Then you could use locktite on the end of the screw that meets the flat metal shaft of the motor. Tighten the screw down good and let the locktite set on the metal to metal contact point for a day and give it a try. |

If the screw hole hole on your plastic pinion is worn out you could try drilling another hole in the pinion smaller than the grub screw and just force threading the screw into the new hole. Being plastic the screw should just form its own threads. Although in the long run you probably should look ionto getting a metal pinion. Plastic isnt going to hold up to long. Even the aluminum pinions dont last very long.
EDIT: Just read your most recent post. Same still goes for the new hole idea though. |

JB Weld sticks metal to plastic nicely. Probably not a good idea if you ever want to remove it though. Try a flatspot on the shaft and some ca on the threads of the set screw. Not too much, a little should help the screw stay in there.

CA glue, but it's more damaging than fixing..

Does anyone know what type of pinion i should get to fit an lst spur gear?
Actually found out the adapter is metal but still no screw size i have will hold it in. |
