3s2p A123+5700kv=mamba max shutting down
Yesterday I was messing around with the Rustler again. Using 3s2p A123 and the 5700kv motor for speed runs ,shuts the ESC down. I have no problem with the 3s1p pack shutting down the mamba controller, but the battery gets hot. So for kicks I put the 7800kv LRP motor in and it shut off after the 2nd run. I put in the 8s Feigao and have no problems running with the 3s2p. Actually it's a monster with that battery. Way more power and speed then with the 3s1p pack.

what speed is it geared for?
Sjooks, I forgot. I believe I have a 19tooth pinion and a 87T spur in there with the 4" tires. So I'm guestimating low 40's, zooming over really short grass, dirt and concrete.

use the speedometer of brianG

I use my little spreadsheet. I can't access brainG online speedometer at the dragstrip. It works out pretty good for me. You enter your values into the yellow cells and everything else gets calculated.

ever check your voltage difference between the two packs at full charge? maybe 3s2p is running a bit higher.
The voltage drop under load will be less with the 2p pack. I also have more amps on tap for the amp hungry LRP motor, but on that I run a 2s2p pack. I guess I finally found the limit of the speed controller.
Is it possible, that you are having the trouble because of the slotted design of the LRP motor? How did it run with the mamba motor?
with the mamba it shut down with the 3s2p, but was fine with the 3s1p.
Ok, then its possible with 1P, you were not pulling enough amps to cause it, but on 2p you got more power. How are you geared? That looks like about a 23 pinion and would be too high for a 7800 on 9.9V
it was either a 17 or 19T pinion with a 84 spur. I tried 4s1p on the 8s Feigao and it flew as well. I used a 26T with a 84T spur with 3.6" tires. I'll use that combo at Sunday's dragrace. Then I'll try the 7800 with 2s2p and see how it compares in the 132 feet against the 8s feigao.
