rustler vxl and mamba max

If I was to upgrade to the mamba max system, which system would give me more power then the vxl? What would I gain?

I don't know if the MM setups will run with the VXL, power wise. My vxl in my SRT is pulling almost 1hp electric (700 watts on 2s with 23/86 gearing) My MM 4600 (closest to the VXL) only pulls 550 watts (23/78 gearing) and its sluggish, I think i found the gearing limit, on MM's.

Right now I'm running 24/76 on sand, and I have a fan on the ESC. When I use 3S it will thermal at times, with 2S it is fine.

I was thinking that with a stronger setup that I could run this gearing with 3S and without a thermal issue. I guess that is not the case.

The XVL motor I think it using a small can, would a larger motor help? Or, would that cause the ESC to over heat quicker?

Pesonally, I use the mm and a feigao 12s 3000kv motor on 3s in my pede. If you are doing 4wd, crt.5 or similar size/weight, a mm with a feigao 10l on 4s or a 9l/8l on 3s would be the ticket for a low cost good performing system. The mm controller may run the vxl motor too, should have similar performance to my 12s feigao. I run a 45/15 geaing which is similar to 23/83 gearing. I am guessing you have a rustler, that gearing would be too much in a pede with the larger tires.

I have a Mamba Max system, and I really like the ESC. I was wondering if anyone has ever ran the VXL motor off the Mamba ESC. I'm thinking about doing it when I finally get my Rusty running good.

Brijar!!!

Ya, I have the rustler. I was thinking if I should consider an upgrade, I have heard so much about the MM setup.

I have a MM/VXL motor setup in my Rusty and it runs poorly. It's almost like I have a brushed motor because the VXL motor has a slight drag brake to it. I thought it was just me and put my 4600 motor in there and no drag. I also get close to an hour of runtime with my 4600 and only 35 minutes with the VXL. Weird.

I run a Lehner 1920 with a MM in my J-Pede on 8000 mah 3s lipo. No heat issues what so ever. Gearing is 86\22 with the stock talons tires. Love it.

I had a similar issue with my vxl rustler, very poor runtimes, its like the motor just sucks up the battery power and loses it in heat! My cheapy feigao 12s motor performs way better, more power and 2x the runtimes. I sold the rustler, just was not worth it. I have heard that others really like their vxls. Maybe I had a bad one, or just have a different view of how brushless should work!
