RD Logics SHO conversion

Hi everyone, I just picked up an RD Logics SHO 1/8 buggy roller on ebay for cheap, my lhs stocks all the parts for them. I have a Feigao 7Xl c can laying around that I bought against my better judgement, and was wonderingwhat you guys think about using that on 4s with a 12t or 13tpinion and 46t center diff gear? or should I finally put the 7XL up for sale and go with a 8 or even 9XL? I'm also thinking MM forthe esc. Thanks all opinions welcome, but experience preferred.

A lot of people including my self have used a 7xl with good sucess. When i ran mine in my mbx 4 & 5, i used a 12 or 13t pinion, i cant remember which . But im currently using a 9xl on 4s .

I forgot to mention I'm going to be running this buggy on a fairly short tight track. rchippie which do you like better the 7XL or 9XL? Thanks.

It's a toss up to me. The 7XL was fast as heck, but the 9xl runs a little cooler & is a little slower, but it's still very fast if geared right. . If it's a short tight track like you say i would probaly lean towards the 7xl sinice you all ready have it. How long is the straight at your track ?. what brand of lipo's & size are you using ?.

you can use brian's speed calculator to get a idea of different gearing & motor choices.

PS just call me hippie everybody else does.

Thanks for the reply hippie. I'm not sure how long the strait is, but it's not very long. I have 2 brushless LST2's one has an 8XL/Quark 125 ( more of a basher ) and the other has a 9XL/MM and its set up for racing. I'm new tothe racing thing (actually only practiced on the track so far, but it's alot of fun. ) anyway I figured if somebody that has already experienced these motors they could save me alot of time and trouble figuring it out so I really appreciate your help. Oh yea I'm running MaxAmps 6000mah 4s batts. ( 2ea 2s in series ).

No problem:smile:. Either of those motors will work very well in your buggy on 4s. When you get your buggy converted please post some pics.

A while back I did a conversion to a PRP Swift, which is essentially the same thing as the RD Logics SHO. I didn't run it much, and ended up turning it back into its nitro form, and trading it. Here are some pics of it:

That's an 8L in there, but like I said, I didn't run it much.

hey MetalMan, what body is that in the pics of your Swift? It looks like it's a good fit.

That body is for a XTM XT2 buggy, trimmed to fit, of course.
