Aluminum Battery Tray [BEWARE LARGE PICS]
I thought i would post a couple shots of what I managed to get accomplished Friday and part of today.
http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/bt1.jpg Another shot http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/bt2.jpg It turned out pretty good with alot of sanding and a paint job. The LOSI is almost ready to run. I still need to rivot the tray to the chassis and add some straps. |
does that fit under a stock body? what battery are u using?

I have to drill some guide holes through the tray and chassis to get the rivots to go and add the straps and padding but it should be very solid after that. |
very nice, is the tray right agianst the rear bulk?

MTR or MT - Standard rims?
|
I'm almost positive they are MTR's on Ofna 1/2 offsets.

I had some time this holiday weekend to put some time in on the 8. Here are a few shots of the changes.
1) I went away from the RX pack and switched to a ubec. 2) I added a RCM heatsink and 2 40mm fans to the Quark. Mounting is still throwing me for a loop so I am doing the zip tie thing on the center diff until something else looks better. I did see a mount somewhere that hung the ESC off the back of the center diff mount but can't seem to remember where i saw it. 3) Modified my battery tray a little and added foam to the bottom. Also drilled some holes for venting and adding zip ties for racing. 4) The body was painted by the original owner of the roller i bought but I added some RCM stickers which did WONDERS for it. :gasp: Here it be.... http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/...%20001.jpg http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/...ture%20002.jpg http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/...ture%20003.jpg http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/...ture%20004.jpg http://www.customvisualconcepts.com/...ture%20005.jpg |
Are you gonna be ready to race this Saturday(Dec. 1), Skillx? I know they(T4BB) are having the truggy $ race which will probably have a long(25 min. +) main. I figured if your ready, maybe Robbie would let us qualify with the nitro's, then run our own shorter main. Could be fun......
The mount you are thinking of is from http://www.rcproductdesigns.com/ but I doubt if there is enough clearance for the 125b and the heatsink. Also, it is only one fan width wide. I think you would be better of fabricating a mount that utilizes the same location but is bigger......actually, I may still have my old one laying around. If I can find it and your interested, its yours. Also, FYI, quarks like to sit perpendicular to the chassis. Hard landings with the 125b mounted parallel will beat the ends off the controller. Been there, done that. |

8T Update
I thought i would post an update on the 8T. I have never had this much trouble in my life with a race rc. This thing is really killing me. After a broken home made battery tray that put me out of a race, to the Quark Monster disaster during practice 2 weeks ago, I was starting to think this dang thing may not make it through a race weekend.
I have installed a new Schulze speed control. I really like this thing. It is super smooth and easy to program. Time will tell if it race worthy and up to the race trauma/beatings. I may mount a fan on the under side of the top plate but going to do some practice at race pace and monitor temps closely....
