Vehicle types for high speed runs.....
I've had the speed bug hit me again (it comes and goes), and I thought my 18T would do the trick. For whatever reason, the lust I had for the truck going super fast isn't cutting it, I need more.
My huge hurdle with that scale is the size, it is challenging to get stuff to fit how you want, and get better performance all in one nice package. So I was thinking that my speed fix can be achieved with a different scale, but was wondering what scale/style is the de facto standard for high speed running. My instincts say that maybe the 1/10th touring car would be great for runs and give me enough room for more power when needed. Any opinions to throw at me? I know that any scale/type can be used for speed runs, but rather than use a truck for example that really isn't "made" for speed running, I'd rather use something that is built for the speed freak in me. If it matters, I really just need to break 100 MPH and I think I'll be happy.....for now. Thanks all, 10k |
How about building a dragster? They can go 100mph in less then 2 seconds. You just have to figure out the downforce on those speeds, tire slippage and whatnot. But a 1/8 scale touring car would be nice as well.

I considered a drag car during one of my last binges on speed, but the parts are few and far between. I also like the idea of the "land speed record" style, where you just run all out, building up speed along the way.
I can find the roads for the runs, so it works for me that way. |
AAh I see your point. Actually there are a few companies you can find drag parts for, like GMS and Teamwalbern. Towerhobbies will carry RJ speed dragsters soon, which are rebadge Bolinks. Or build yourself a custom touring car with big wide foamies for your land speed record urge.

I have an old RS4 touring car, that I use for speed runs. 60 - 70 mph without breaking a sweat!

10k, http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7588
speed isn't 100mph, but i believe could be w/ a big enough setup in there.. but it does do 50mph fairly easily w/ a neu 1512. but spins the tires up to about 25mph on a launch. when i ran it, it ran excelent, but just wasn't geared low enough for 80-90mph speed runs. still avail btw, pm me if you'd like. |
A4, I was just going to link that!
A 8th scale on road is your best bet 10K, They have everything you want |
