Found a Rare and cool engine for a onroad project
I got lucky and found a rare onroad engine for my NTC3, Anyone heard of a LD or laid down engine? I found an OS .12 LD engine (comparable to the CV or CV-R engines) Heres the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=020 I know that Nitro is not a favorite of most here, But i thought it was cool enough to share |
Thats pretty darn neat. Wonder how much cooling it gets laid down like that.

Larry, when you get it in, mind posting some pics with it semi-apart? I'm curious to see it apart, although its probably nothing special.

I'm curious to see how its set up as well, will do. I know, from checking tower for parts, its not a powerhouse (similar to a CV/CV-Rbut the lower mounting should make it handle like a slotcar. Should be torquey, as well. I recall an artile in RC Car Action, where in one of their Tmaxx racers, they used this engine with good results. This was when the pro.15, was the stock engine. From looking at the pics, it looks like they used the block for the mount. There are 4 holes, about the spacing of the chassis holes.

i always wanted one but they got discontinued before i could get it...I think it would look sick mounted up front and driven to the rear...

I don't see the plugs for the batteries on this puppy!?
serious; Neat engine ! very unique, never seen anything like this before |
Nice, just needs to be BL.

Got a hitch in my plans
Well, it came today. I got my Nitro TC3 out and did some mocking up and found out a few things, 1. The bolt pattern of the block to the chassis is off, the block is wider and slightly longer than stock NTC3. 2. the head sticks out wat into the area the pipe will go.
Oh well its a cool engine, to keep and show off, till i find a use. I know Tamiya had a touring car chassis that used this engine, maybe i'll get lucky and find one. |
Im pretty sure it was Kyosho who had a car w/ this engine. It was wlso kyosho who offered a car with the OS .26 4-Stroke.
|
actually it is both, Tamiya and Kyosho had cars for this engine. Kyosho had the super-ten series and tamiya had the TGX series, both were in the same size class as the RS4 Super nitro, and both had shaft drive with centered spur and the motor run on the right side. maybe i'll find one one day.
