My G3 Cf Revo Drag Racer
 

HI ALL,

This is my first gorillamaxx kit I am setting it up for drag racing . This is a list of what I have so far.
Gorillamaxx G3 CF REVO KIT
Gorillamaxx single speed conversion
NOVAK HV 4.5 MOTOR and ESC
Just ordered 2 2 CELL 8000Mah MAX AMPS lipo packs

Here in Louisiana we drag 132 feet so if this is not or cannot be fast enough I will add one more Novak HV 4.5 motor and esc and switch to 2 4 cell 8000Mah lipo packs.

eh... not to rain on your parade but this may not be the best setup. for a number of reasons. i personally would go with a better motor, esc and smaller bats. i think angel would be better at answering questions about specifics but i just dont see this setup as a green light winner.

also i agree it may not be the best setup...and if you add another it won't go faster it'll just accelerate better.. for the cost of the novak you can get a better system and have a truely fast truck

Are you going to run 4WD? If not, you'll want to stretch that chassis as long as you can.

Wouldnt you also want to eliminate the tranny and get as close to direct drive as you can? (assuming of course that you have optimized your motor for the weight and drive ratio). Maybe one of the outrunner brushless motors might work well in this particular appication (long discussion on those in the temporary forum).

Also, I would guess that the G3 chassis would almost be quite heavy for drag racing.

Drag racing is all about the amount of potential energy you can store, and the ability to completely release it by the end of the track.

There right. Dual brushless is pointless. You'll only gain a few mph first off. I would sell the 4.5 and batteries while you still can, get a Neu 1515, MGM, and 6S setup. That should blow the doors off anything around. What part of La?

The dual brushless would help in the way that I should be able to get a bigger pinion rite.
by the way I am new to electric in some sense where this is my first electric I have been working in a hobby shop for 2 1/2 years.So like I said any advice is welcome.

I am racing from lafayette to baton rouge to new orleans.A freind of mine has one of the fastest nitros in this area,he is the one getting me into drag racing I was off road racing for the longest.

I am keeping 4wd and I would like to know more about Neu and MGM.

If cost isn't a factor, a Neu/MGM setup is the best way to go. As for which one, depends on how high a voltage you want to run. I would go with 8S if your racing and want enormous speed, but 6S is more than enough. Where in BR are you racing? I live in BR and thought they closed all the local tracks...

The trick is your going to need one nasty motor to move such a heavy truck, one serious controller to hold the amps the motor wants to draw, and one beefy "C" rated cell to supply the tremendous amount of current. if you do it right you will have an awesome tranny grinding, diff eating, axle snapper that no other nitro car would even come close to.

trouble is this is not a cheap setup. look into what aangel has in his ride. i think he has gotten into drag racing quite recently.

First off the reason I am starting with the novak HV 4.5 is because I had it already I got it in a trade it was used once ,second the trick is going to be finding the rite setup for drag racing in 132 feet. Could yall tell me what yall know about neu and mgm and other brands that compare who makes them what kind of performance they put out just so I could look in different price ranges . I know that mamba max is comming out with a 1/8 scale brushless system around christmas or at least they are susposed to be.

I wouldn't hold my breath for CC for come out with the MMM. Personally, the MGM and Neu is the best combo you can go with. I think a 1515 motor, picked for your voltage, will out perform damn near anything. The Neu motors are 4 poles, so you HAVE to run a MGM, Quark, or MM. The MM is out of the question though since its only capable of 4S safely. Quarks have heat issues, so I wouldn't get one instead of a MGM. The MGM seems pretty much perfect. The only things I've heard people complaining about is the fact that they are hard to program, but I think you can do it all by USB now, so its not hard at all. Like I said, I would run a HV setup. Its guaranteed to be a powerhouse. Keep in mind that the better the batteries, and the higher the voltage, the more power. The more power (power=watts) the faster it'll go....Simply put.

personally i would sell that system get a mgm and neu myself. a few FLIGHTPOWER EVO30-4500 3S packs wire them in series and see how long it takes me to pick up the parts of my drive train off the drag strip while everyone gawks at me.

I'm with no mods....Either that, or a couple 4S packs in series...

which MGM'S are compatible with the 1515 motor?
