wondering...

Hi there!

I have novaks HV 6.5 motor without use...i was about to sell it but...

I'm thinking that can i run the novak motor with MGM 16018 esc?Novak motor has a sensor...So will it work with mgm?

you can use it, but you don't use the sensor.

the novak motor is relative weak; it compensates a high KV with a tiny diameter/sized rotor.

long story short;

You can use sensored motors on non sensored controllers, but not the other way around.

Ok..thx serum.

But are ya sure?I was thinking that it worked the other way?

A sensored controller determines the rotors possition by a feedback it gets from the sensors build in the motor; the sensors (most common used are HALL sensors) tells the controller in what possition the rotor is. The back EMF from the motor is ignored by these controllers.

A non sensored controller obviously doesn't use the sensors; so the controller needs to determine the possition in another way; since a motor is basically a dynamo it also produces a signal that can be used by the controller to determine the possition. (this feedback signal is called EMF).

Long story short; a non sensored motor does not work on a sensored controller, since this ignores his emf and there is no way for the sensored controller to determine the possition.

a sensored motor on the other hand can be used on an non sensored controller, since every motor produces a back EMF.
