RCM Hybrid diffs

I recently assembled the RCM hybrid 1/8th scale diffs for my revo 3.3. Once they were assembled I was just checking them out before I put them in the car and I noticed the pinion has some play in it. If I push or pull on the pinion it will move in or out of the diff. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Josh

this is normal, just use shims to reduce the play

This was the first diff I ever set up, so I really dont know that much. Where do I need to shim?

Putting some shims between the teeth and the bearings will prevent it from sliding back, while putting shims between the bearing and the outdrive cup will prevent it from moving forward.

Naturally, the way the diff works the pinion is pushed out, so you really only need to put shims between the teeth and bearings.
