5 cell FlightPower and havin fun!

I was running my GMaxx with a NEU 1515/1y, Quark 125, on 5 cell FlightPower 5000 and having a blast doing speed runs and awesome wheelies. Then came the dreaded puff of smoke!
My Quark is toast! So much for being able to run 5 cell!
Anyway does anyone know the address of Quark, and do I need a receipt for them to warranty it.
Thanks
Tom

Were you running some sort of extra heatsink and/or fan?

I was using the RCM heatsink for the Quark

Wow, hope mine doesn't do that. Did you by chance get the motor, battery, and esc temps when it all happened?

The Quarks are good controllers, but if you call S&T and tell them that you are running their controller in an 1/8 scale conversion, they will tell you that it IS a 1/10 scale controller. Although the Monster Pro's specs are impressive when you run across that 300A surge spec, it can be misleading. The MP is only rated to 125A continuous.

Spinning a 1515/1Y up to the number of rpms that it gets to on 5S causes that motor to draw a bunch of current. To be safe, I'd say that 4S is probably the max that you should go with the Quark and the 2200kv 1515 motor.

If you've gotta go faster, go for higher voltage like 5S or 6S with a lower kv motor and gear it up.

BTW, Quark is really good about the warranty. Just send the controller in and you'll have a new one back before you know it. I suppose that sending in a receipt could help, but I've never had to.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't know the quark was for 1/10scale. I think I'll get a warranty one and sell it on Ebay, then replace it with the MGM, I already have two MGM's and really like them.
