Sweet ride man! That thing must hall major butt with that motor and battery, what kinda speeds are you gettin'?
|
Well, conservative gearing puts me at about 47 according to BrianG's calculator. I'm just saying about 40 just in case. I'm running a 17T pinion right now. I could always throw a 20T on for more top speed, but this is a track machine so 17T is plenty for now - might even go down to a 15T for the track day...
However, if I REALLY want speed I can always do 4S and a 20T pinion...should exceed 70mph with that...70mph easy, actually... |
nice, looks like a totally different truck with the extended chassis.
|
Great looking truck!
What body are you guys running with the long chassis? The one you have looks like it fits nice. |
Sweet man! Looks real good!
I really need to get pics of mine up on here. Its all finished now... Quote:
Bye:mdr: |
jhautz - if I'm not mistaken, it is a Jato body. I'm not 100% sure though. Cemetary answered your question. I read his post and didn't even see the answer there. lol
BP - Your CRT.5 looks fantastic!! Very, very nice. Should definitely rip on the track. :intello: What did you make your battery tray out of (what kind of aluminum... thickness, etc)? And where did you buy it? Is it very strong... can you bend it by hand? Or do you need a vice to bend it? Let me know. Thanks. |
The Body is a Crowd Pleazer 2.0. The CP available for the T4 is the old style, and I don't really like the design much. I bought the Jato and figured if I didn't think it would fit nice, I would just buy another body and the Jato body could actually go on my Jato lol...
The aluminum is 6061-T6 from onlinemetals.com - its slightly thicker than 2mm (like 2.03 or something). Its very very strong. My friend has a sheetmetal bender, and I had to heat it up with a propane torch to bend it to 90* angles without breaking it (I actually broke the back side of the battery tray, but ended up using a second peice which allowed it to be adjustable in length). Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll be sure to get some video when I hit the track. Initial plans are this Thursday, but I might end up going Saturday instead. One of these days I'll borrow MetalMan's Garmin GPS and strap 4S and a 20T pinion into the sucker and see what it can do (hehehe). |
Looks good BP
But looks weird with those lil tires lol Cant wait for vid |
great job on this project bp
this chassis is so sweet , i cant wait till it comes out in the store, i must have one! |
From what I see a couple people after have a few of the Chassis'
I believe that Mike is still getting the chassis dialed in perfect so that it can be properly mass produced. The fit and finish of a massed produced item must be near flawless. On my chassis, a couple of the screw holes were like .2-.3mm off, which pretty much does nothing but make a few screws a little hard to start threading, but otherwise doesn't affect anything. If the production chassis had this flaw, a bunch of people not on the forum would receive the chassis and dub it as "low quality" and "poorly engineered" due to this small flaw, though it obviously is not. I spent lots of hours designing the chassis, and tried to account for as much as possible. I'm sure Mike is spending multiples of the time I spent getting it perfect. Again, thanks for all the comments. |
I should be seeing this truck in person on Thurs. If BP doesn't have a video camera, I could bring mine and get some action footage.
|
I have a digital camera that has a video function. I do have a 4GB memory stick, so its not really a matter of whether I will run out of room or not. However, I am part of my school's digital video production team (which is a pretty select class, as you have to apply to get in). They have many high quality digital video cams, and I plan to check on out that day, so if MetalMan would be willing to do the honors for a bit, we could have some high quality video. :intello:
|
I'd be glad to shoot some video, no matter whose camera it is. Besides, if you bring the camera, you do the editing/uploading .
Now, that 1509/1Y needs to get to Mike so I can buy it from him, and give BP some competition! |

lol just kidding! I'm very curious to see how the Lehner does vs the Neu. The motors should be rather comparable, if I recall correctly. We'll see. :mdr: |
