Found this on radiocontrolzone.com:surprised:

tashpop 10.26.2007 09:49 PM

well, if all that info is true:surprised: there will be no other combo to look into for the $$. 60mph is crazy. i'm wondering if those speeds are reliable(cool motor/esc) or if they just geared up to the sky for bragging rights.:rules:

zeropointbug 10.26.2007 10:28 PM

Well, the 1515/1Y is fast on 4s lipo, and 5s lipo would be awesome fast, for me. That test is just showing how capable the system is, IMO. Looks great though! 128F for the esc, thats great! Even the motor staying very cool, once you think how much power is being put through it. :rules:

_paralyzed_ 10.26.2007 10:28 PM

that cant be true! I'm about to drop almost $300 ($265 + shipping) for the same neu motor

zeropointbug 10.26.2007 10:30 PM

Making it a combo will make it cheaper for them to sell. Also, maybe it is not quite a Neu motor, as in, like a cheaper 'can' it is built into?

DrKnow65 10.26.2007 10:33 PM

I read (another patric quote) that they have bought the license on the design and will be modding the case, bigger bearing, closed and bell that is screwed in, and blind holes in the front to keep guys from putting long screws into the windings.

lincpimp 10.26.2007 10:34 PM

Castle obtained rights from Neu to build a copy of the motor based on its design. It will most likely not be AS good as a neu, but I am sure that it will be a great performing motor and a big step up from a feigao. And you can't beat the price, around $300 is a killer deal. Its almost the same price as a 125b quark, and you get a motor too!

CC is also going to put out a new "entry level brushless esc" the sidewinder $80

http://www.castlecreations.com/media...idewinder.html

I'm just getting a little jumpy about the idea of having them stop production of the mamba max... I mean for the cost if I had started with the sidewinder first I propable would have gone straight to the MMM and skipped the mamba max... I posted a question about it to patric on the other forum but logic kind of dictates.

DrKnow65 10.26.2007 10:50 PM

Here's the thread if you want to see pic's of the beta without the case...
(not sure it's ok to encourage RCM guys to jump over forums, sorry if it's not)

there was a topic about this sidewinder. Nice for little money IMO.

No problem with links to other forums, it's not conflicting with business..

The photo's of that MMM are taken from a user on this forum, who posted them earlier on.

Take a close look at the layout of the sidewinder speedo and the mmm.. recognize anything familiar?

DrKnow65 10.27.2007 06:14 PM

The cross-cut heat sink like I'm modding mine with? They have a lower thermal resistance (wow look at me like I know somthing important hehehe). Or are you speaking of something else like tekin?

Serum 10.27.2007 06:20 PM

compare the layout of both controllers;

the mmm and the sidewinder controller.

see anything familiar if you compare them both?

DrKnow65 10.27.2007 06:26 PM

Aside from the heat sink, I notice that the power leads are on one side and the motor leads are on the other, the color of the sidewinder is black (havn't seen a case for the MMM yet). Am I missing something obveous (not feeling to bright anymore) :)

Serum 10.27.2007 06:31 PM

seems like they are using the very same footprint, if not the same board.
